Description
Hiroshi Yagyuu, known as "The Gentleman," first joined the golf club at Rikkaidai Junior High. Teammate Masaharu Niou later persuaded him to switch to tennis. This shift led to extensive training with Niou, culminating in Yagyuu surpassing his friend and securing a regular spot on the tennis team. Their partnership became foundational to Rikkaidai's doubles strategy.

Yagyuu is distinguished by his glasses and light brown or purple hair in different adaptations. His silver eyes are often concealed behind his spectacles. He habitually adjusts his glasses and collar, mannerisms that persist even when cosplaying others like Niou or Kaidō Kaoru. This ability allows him to perfectly replicate appearances, voices, and personalities.

Personality-wise, Yagyuu embodies a polite and respectful demeanor, consistently using honorifics and assisting others courteously, aligning with his role on Rikkaidai's student council. Despite this gentlemanly facade, he adheres strictly to team discipline, reprimanding junior Akaya Kirihara for losses or swiftly defeating opponents when opportunities arise. He rarely smiles and maintains seriousness during matches, though he demonstrates loyalty by supporting Niou during exhausting games. His signature phrase, "adieu," accompanies his finishing move, the Laser Beam.

On the tennis court, Yagyuu employs a serve-and-volley style emphasizing net play. His primary technique, the Laser Beam, evolved into the "Curving Laser Beam" during the U-17 training camp tiebreak against Niou. Later, in the exhibition match against Hyotei, he unveiled the "Reflection Laser." He wields the DUNLOP ADFORCE M1 TOUR racquet and wears DUNLOP PRS-300DG shoes.

Key relationships define his development. His bond with Niou is central, blending opposites—Yagyuu's formality contrasts with Niou's trickster nature. Their mutual trust and collaborative tactics form one of Rikkaidai's strongest doubles pairs. Yagyuu also interacts with Kirihara, whom he formally addresses as "Kirihara-kun," and participates in team activities like enduring the side effects of Inui Juice during training.

His match history includes notable moments: during the Nationals semifinals, he deliberately lost his singles match to pressure Kirihara into improving, revealing Rikkaidai's strategic depth. At the U-17 camp, he defeated Niou in a tiebreak, advancing to Court 6 but remaining there while peers moved higher. In the Hyotei vs. Rikkai exhibition, Yagyuu played singles against Shishido, utilizing his Reflection Laser. Despite Shishido's eventual victory after a competitive tiebreak, Yagyuu accepted the loss gracefully.
