Description
Jet is a Mage belonging to the Fairy Tail guild, where he is a member of the team known as Shadow Gear. His real name is Sarusuke, but he is universally known by his nickname, Jet, which is derived from his unique form of Magic. He grew up alongside his teammates Droy and Levy McGarden, and the three joined Fairy Tail together, forming their close-knit group.

In terms of personality, Jet is defined by his pride in his own speed, a quality he often boasts about, yet he is capable of being humble when his arrogance leads to a friendly defeat. Beneath this competitive exterior, he cares deeply for his guildmates, especially for his teammates in Shadow Gear. Droy is his best friend but also his primary romantic rival, as both share an unrequited love for Levy. This rivalry makes them overly competitive and prone to bouts of jealousy whenever Levy shows interest in someone else. Despite their bickering, Jet and Droy are united in their immense support for Levy, believing strongly in her abilities. Jet's unrequited feelings are a recurring theme; he holds the guild record for the second fastest rejection after confessing to Levy and being turned down in just two seconds. This emotional struggle is further explored when the guild members of Tenrou Island, including Levy, are believed dead for seven years. During this period of loss and grief, Jet eventually moved on and even entered another relationship. Upon Levy's miraculous return, his old feelings resurfaced, but recognizing that her heart belonged to Gajeel Redfox, he chose to prioritize her happiness over his own.

Within the story, Jet is a supporting character whose role is often tied to his team's activities or to illustrate the guild's internal dynamics. During the Phantom Lord arc, he and Shadow Gear are brutally attacked by Gajeel Redfox as a provocation to incite a war between the two guilds. After Gajeel later joins Fairy Tail, Jet and Droy attempt to take revenge on him, only to realize that the Iron Dragon Slayer was not fighting back against them, leading to a shift in their understanding. Jet participates in many major events, including the Battle of Fairy Tail and the Tenrou Island arc. He is present when the guild learns of the S-Class Mage Promotion Trial, and he is among those left behind on the mainland when Tenrou Island vanishes. In the aftermath, with the guild greatly weakened, Jet is one of the few members who remains, struggling to maintain the guild's spirit against the harassment of rival guilds like Twilight Ogre. He is also part of the search party that ultimately finds Tenrou Island and the surviving members, leading to their joyful return and the guild's restoration.

Jet's primary ability is a form of Caster Magic known as High Speed, which dramatically increases his movement speed. This magic allows him to outmaneuver opponents in combat, delivering powerful melee attacks, such as high-velocity kicks, that become far more effective due to the sheer speed behind them. However, this magic has a noted limitation, as it cannot defend against spells or abilities specifically designed to slow him down. Despite his expertise in speed, he is shown to be amazed by the sheer velocity of other characters, such as Jellal Fernandes using his spell Meteor.

In the alternate world of Edolas, a counterpart version of Jet exists. This version is a member of the Edolas Fairy Tail guild and also part of an Edolas version of Team Shadow Gear. Unlike the Earth Land Jet, this counterpart is portrayed as aggressive and vulgar, and is considered a candidate for the strongest mage in his guild. He wears a black and gray jumpsuit and has a scar over his right eye, giving him a notably different appearance and demeanor from the character from the primary world.
