Description
Léon, whose full name is Lyon Vastia, is a wizard from the guild Lamia Scale who wields ice-make magic. His background is defined by a childhood marked by loss, as his family was killed by the demon Deliora. In the aftermath, he spent years searching for the strongest mage to become their apprentice. He was eventually taken in by the ice-make wizard Ur, who trained him in the fundamentals of ice-make magic alongside his younger fellow apprentice, Gray Fullbuster. Léon admired Ur intensely and became obsessed with surpassing her. When Gray recklessly confronted Deliora, Ur sacrificed herself by using the forbidden spell Iced Shell, turning her own body into ice to seal the demon. Léon was devastated by what he saw as the theft of his chance to surpass his teacher, and he came to resent Gray.
Léon's personality is initially cold, composed, and intensely ambitious, driven by pride in his abilities and a single-minded determination to surpass Ur. This ambition led him to become the main antagonist of the Galuna Island arc, where he adopted the alias Zero Emperor.
