Description
Airs Blue is a 15-year-old boy from Saturn's moon, Hyperion, who emerges as one of the most formidable and complex figures among the crew of the Ryvius. His sharp, penetrating eyes and bandana-tied hairstyle give him a distinctive, older appearance that belies his youth. As the leader of Team Blue, he possesses a cool, charismatic demeanor that naturally draws followers, but this exterior masks a deeply ingrained, warlike nature and a strong aversion to taking orders from anyone.

Born into a family of high-ranking officials on Hyperion, Blue grew up feeling resented and looked down upon by his brothers, a childhood that shaped his fierce independence and aggressive personality. Before the events on the training ship Liebe Delta, he lived as a boss in lawless areas, and there are accounts of him helping the orphaned Cliff and Michelle or defeating a rival named Son in a street fight. However, he suppressed his violent impulses while on the Liebe Delta, seeing it as an environment where that side of him was not welcome. The chaotic disaster that plunges the students into the depths of space aboard the Ryvius provides the trigger for Blue to shed this restraint. He sees the isolated, adult-free environment of the Ryvius as a new world where his natural aggression can finally be unleashed.

Blue’s primary motivation is power and self-preservation, driven by a need to feel alive and in control. He loathes being commanded, and seizing command of the ship is the ultimate expression of this. His initial rise to power is facilitated by possessing the only firearm on the ship, a needle-shooting pistol stolen from a saboteur who had infiltrated the Liebe Delta. Using this weapon and his own physical prowess, he orchestrates a coup against the initial leadership, the Zwei, establishing himself as the second captain of the black Ryvius. Once in charge, he uses his charisma and understanding of human nature to impose a certain kind of order, though his regime is also marked by the same mistakes he criticized in others, such as withholding information from the general student body. His ultimate goal is to use the Ryvius as a bargaining chip to return to his destroyed home of Hyperion, but this ambition reveals a willingness to abandon his crewmates for his own survival.

Blue’s relationships are defined by conflict, rivalry, and a grudging respect for certain individuals. He frequently clashes with Yuki Aiba, whom he can easily defeat in a fight due to his mastery of martial arts, a skill that makes him one of the strongest individuals on the ship. However, he recognizes Yuki’s exceptional talent for piloting the Vital Guarder, the ship's defense robot. In contrast, he seems to have a more receptive attitude toward Yuki’s brother, Kouji Aiba, listening to his reasoning in a way he does not with others. His dynamic with Yuiri Bahana is particularly noteworthy; they initially oppose each other, but gradually develop a mutual attraction, culminating in Blue giving her a dress that signifies her transition into a more mature young woman. His most significant antagonistic relationship is with the calculating Stein Heiger, whose schemes ultimately expose Blue's plan to abandon the ship, leading to his downfall. Despite his thuggish reputation, some observers note that life under Blue’s rule was less oppressive than the totalitarian regimes that followed him.

Throughout the series, Blue undergoes a significant fall from grace. After being exposed and driven from power, he becomes a fugitive, hunted by the very crew he once commanded. He is forced into hiding, scavenging for food and relying on the charity of Kouji Aiba, who shelters him. Having lost his family and his home of Hyperion, he becomes a solitary, wandering figure. In a moment of crucial character development, he passes his needle-gun to Kouji, entrusting him with the hope of fixing the broken society aboard the ship. After the Ryvius is recovered, Blue is taken to a government facility but naturally escapes, disappearing once more. In the end, he chooses to return to the Ryvius, not as a conqueror, but to face his past and the people he wronged, seeking a form of redemption by working alongside them once again.

Notable abilities include his exceptional skill in martial arts-style combat, making him a fearsome fighter in hand-to-hand situations. His possession and willingness to use the unique needle-gun give him a decisive tactical advantage during his coup. Beyond his physical capabilities, Blue’s greatest assets are his natural charisma, his sharp, calculating mind for strategy, and his innate talent for controlling people and seizing the levers of power in a crisis.
