Description
Mirred, also referred to as Mirette, is a young Tuskan girl with a tragic past and a pivotal role in the anime Kiba. She possesses the appearance of an adult female with medium-length white hair and blue eyes, often seen wearing a dress, boots, tights, gloves, collar, and thigh-high boots, with a facial mark. From the moment of her birth, she carried the Key Spirit Jumamis within her body, which led to her being designated the savior of the nation of Tusk. As a result, she spent her entire life isolated and confined to a small tower above the Tusk Palace, kept away from the outside world under the guise of protection. Her primary guardian was Gitra, one of the four ministers of Tusk, and she found solace in the music he played on a large pipe organ, which she could hear from her room.
Mirred possesses a free-spirited and curious nature, despite her confinement. She longs to experience the world she has only heard about, which drives her to escape the palace when given the opportunity. She is generally stoic and reserved, rarely displaying strong emotions, but she is deeply empathetic and yearns for connection and freedom. Her motivations are initially shaped by the heavy burden of her prophesied destiny as the savior of Tusk, a role she did not choose. She struggles with this fate, feeling as though she cannot escape it, but she also does not want to run anymore. Her desire to see a real sky and explore the world around her leads her to venture outside, where she encounters people like Doruga and Zed, who further influence her path.
In the overarching narrative, Mirred serves as the central catalyst for the awakening of Tusker, the ultimate being created from the union of all six Key Spirits. Her body inherently holds one of these Key Spirits, Jumamis, and her presence draws the others to her, making her the intended vessel for the resurrection of Tusker. This event occurs when her sorrow and shock during a confrontation cause Jumamis to emerge and summon all Key Spirits into her body, only for the resulting power to overwhelm her. Her inability to control Tusker leads to the Key Spirits leaving her and transferring to Noah, an event that leaves her with no memory of her past.
Her key relationships define much of her development. Gitra, her guardian, is deeply devoted to her and protects her, ultimately becoming her caregiver after she loses her memories and taking her on a journey to see the world. Zed, the protagonist, offers her a chance to give up her burden, showing her kindness and understanding that she values. Her trust in Doruga, who initially shows her the wonders of Tote's Cave, is shattered when he demands her Key Spirit for himself, an act that deepens her sorrow and triggers the awakening of Tusker.
Her notable abilities stem from her bond with Jumamis, a Key Spirit that remains dormant within her until all other Key Spirits are in close proximity. She is capable of drawing these other Key Spirits to herself, which allows her to summon Tusker for a brief time. However, she lacks the strength to control Tusker, which causes the power to leave her. After her memory is lost, she no longer retains her abilities or the lingering awareness of her past, becoming a simple traveler under Gitras care. Her role in the story is ultimately that of a tragic figure used by others for their ambitions, yet she finds a quiet peace through Gitras loyalty at the conclusion.
