Description
Pokota, whose full name is Posel Korba Taforashia, is a main character in the anime Slayers Revolution and its sequel Slayers Evolution-R. His nickname is formed from the first syllables of his first, middle, and last names. He is the prince of the kingdom of Taforashia and a candidate for its throne, belonging to a surviving collateral branch of the royal family rather than being a direct descendant of the ruling line.

Pokota was born human, but during his adolescence the Durum sickness struck Taforashia, and the king, his father, fell gravely ill. The Red Priest Rezo appeared and sealed the residents of Taforashia in sleeping chambers to isolate them until a cure could be found. Rezo sealed Pokota's human body in one of these chambers, but used a magical vase to transfer Pokota's spirit into a small animal-like body roughly two feet tall. In this form he resembles a plush creature, and near the end of Evolution-R it is revealed that he is literally a stuffed animal when his ears are blown off, exposing the stuffing inside; the closing credits show a girl sewing new ears for him.

Despite his small and seemingly cute appearance, Pokota is bold, sharp-tongued, and fearless. He constantly argues and bickers with Lina Inverse, yet he does not hesitate to risk his life when the situation demands it. He is clever, resourceful, and highly motivated by a strong sense of duty toward his kingdom and its sleeping people, and he refuses to let his size or his unusual body define his capabilities. His main motivation is to save Taforashia and awaken its citizens, especially his father, and to resolve the crisis created by Rezo's actions.

In the story, Pokota debuts in the first episode of Revolution, appearing by cutting into Lina's moment of casting Dragon Slave, and quickly becomes a central figure of the arc. He is an anime-original character for these two seasons, borrowing certain elements from the novel character Luke. Much of the plot revolves around his quest to restore his homeland, his conflict with the forces that have exploited the technology he created, and the fate of his sealed people. The villains Ruvinagald and Gioconda steal his designs for anti-magic tanks, whose capabilities are based on an incomplete though still effective version of the Zanaffar armor, making his inventions an important element of the conflict.

His key relationships include his father, the ailing king of Taforashia, whose fate drives him throughout the series, and Lina Inverse, his most frequent companion and rival. Though they constantly clash and Lina sometimes treats him like a pet animal, they cooperate effectively in battle. Rezo the Red Priest is central to his past, as the one who sealed his people and transferred his spirit. Later, the dark lord Shabranigdu takes over Rezo while Rezo is in possession of Pokota's human body, and that body is destroyed by Lina's Giga Slave, meaning Pokota can never regain his original human form.

His development across the two seasons involves moving from a secretive figure with his own private mission to a more integrated member of the group, and coming to terms with the permanent loss of his human body and his strange new existence. The revelation of his true nature as a stuffed animal adds depth to this struggle.

In terms of abilities, Pokota retains his full magical power despite the transfer of his spirit. He is a highly skilled sorcerer with magic comparable to Lina Inverse's, able to cast the high-level Dragon Slave with ease, a spell only a few can manage, as well as common shamanistic and white magic spells. He is also an accomplished engineer and inventor, having built magic war machines and anti-magic tanks, and he even crafted a replica of the Sword of Light.
