Description
Kakizaki is the bespectacled secretary and personal aide to Higa Izumi, one of the major Ashikabi antagonists in the story. He is also an Ashikabi in his own right, having winged the Sekirei known as Kochō, number 22. In appearance, Kakizaki is a tall, slim man with black hair and hazel eyes, typically dressed in a formal black suit, white shirt, and a distinctive yellow tie.
Kakizaki’s personality is defined by his complete and unwavering obedience to Higa. He carries out every command with a collected and calm demeanor, even during crisis situations such as the attempted capture of the Sekirei Homura or during a direct raid on the Izumo Inn. His loyalty is not born of simple servitude but of a genuine, unspoken care; Higa considers Kakizaki his only true friend, a fact Kakizaki fully understands and respects. Despite this capacity for loyalty, he displays a cruel and calculating side, demonstrating great skill in psychological manipulation. This is most evident in his interactions with the Sekirei Uzume, whom he needles with threats and insults. He expertly uses the wellbeing of Uzume's critically ill Ashikabi, Chiho, as leverage, knowing Uzume cannot retaliate without condemning the person she loves. However, this composed facade can crack, revealing signs of cowardice and entitlement when he is outmatched or bested in a confrontation.
His primary motivation is to serve Higa's ambitions, which involve gathering powerful Sekirei to secure victory in the Sekirei Plan. Kakizaki is the key coordinator for Higa's operations, managing the logistics of missions and relaying orders to their Sekirei forces. He personally leads the attempt to claim Homura for Higa and acts as the direct handler for Uzume, ensuring her coerced cooperation through constant psychological pressure. In this role, he is one of the primary obstacles for the protagonists, representing the cold and calculating strategy of Higa's faction.
Beyond his professional capacity, Kakizaki’s key relationships are central to his character. His bond with Higa is the most significant, a rare instance of genuine friendship between two otherwise ruthless individuals. His relationship with Uzume is almost entirely antagonistic, defined by his role as her tormentor and warden. As an Ashikabi, his relationship with his own Sekirei, Kochō, is less explored but exists as part of his function within the faction.
Kakizaki does not undergo dramatic personal development in the traditional sense, but his role solidifies as the narrative progresses. His initial presentation as a simple yes-man deepens to reveal a complex figure who understands the emotional weight of his actions but chooses to perform them out of a twisted sense of friendship. He is not a frontline fighter, and his notable abilities are not physical. Instead, his strengths lie in strategic planning, operational coordination, and psychological warfare. He is a master of using information and emotional leverage to control situations, proving that in the battle of the Sekirei Plan, those without direct combat power can still be among the most dangerous players.
