Description
Natsuo Ichinomiya is a supporting character in the anime Sekirei: Pure Engagement. He serves as the Ashikabi of all three members of the Third Generation Disciplinary Squad, a group of powerful Sekirei. By profession, he works as a clerk in the pharmaceutical department of the Mid Bio-Interface Corporation, or MBI. He appears as a young man in his late twenties, with brown hair and grey eyes.

Personality wise, Natsuo is notably easygoing and carefree. He tends to treat the battles of the Sekirei Plan as a form of entertainment or a way to pass the time, rather than as a life-or-death struggle. His own Sekirei describe him as carefree, and he maintains a detached, almost amused demeanor even in tense situations. This attitude is partly rooted in personal tragedy: according to the Sekirei Haihane, Natsuo was once in a romantic relationship with a doctor. That lover volunteered to serve in a war zone and was killed, an event that profoundly affected him. As a result, he seems to avoid deep emotional investment and seeks distraction in the ongoing conflict.

His motivations are therefore not driven by ambition or a desire to win the Sekirei Plan, but rather by a need to fill a void left by his loss. Because of his connection to MBI and the strength of his bonded Sekirei, he is nonetheless considered a contender in the competition. His role in the story is that of a supporting figure who interacts with the main cast during the events of Pure Engagement, often appearing alongside the Disciplinary Squad. He is affiliated with the MBI chairman, Hiroto Minaka, and operates largely within the framework of the organization.

As an Ashikabi, Natsuo possesses the ability to form contracts with multiple Sekirei at once, allowing him to command the entire Third Generation Disciplinary Squad. He also exhibits above-average physical strength and combat proficiency, though he relies primarily on his Sekirei in battle. His development is limited in the anime, but his past is hinted at through the comments of his Sekirei, giving him a layer of melancholy beneath his relaxed exterior.
