Description
Neliel Tu Oderschvank Adulta is the original and true form of the Arrancar known as Nel Tu, who was formerly the Tres Espada, the third-ranked member of Sousuke Aizen's Arrancar army. As an adult, she appears as a tall, composed woman with long, wavy green hair, a distinctive pink mark crossing her face, and a Hollow mask that takes the shape of a ram with two curved horns. A large number three tattooed on her back signifies her former rank.

Her background is marked by tragedy and betrayal. Before the main events of the story, Neliel was a powerful and respected Espada, widely regarded as the strongest female warrior in Hueco Mundo. She held a philosophy of combat that rejected needless violence and cruelty, believing that true warriors only fight for a just reason rather than out of hatred, prejudice, or animal instinct. This principled stance, along with her immense power, incited deep jealousy and resentment in her fellow Espada Nnoitra Gilga, a highly misogynistic and insecure male who could not tolerate a woman being stronger than him. After repeatedly challenging her and being effortlessly defeated and spared each time, Nnoitra conspired with the Arrancar scientist Szayel Aporro Granz to strip Neliel of her power. Together, they broke her Hollow mask, causing a massive leak of her spiritual pressure that transformed her into an amnesiac, childlike Arrancar without any memory of her past.

In her adult form, Neliel's personality is markedly different from her child counterpart. She is mature, logical, composed, and highly intelligent, though she retains a jovial and compassionate nature, especially toward her friends. She is empathetic, idealistic, and deeply protective of others, often putting herself in danger to defend those she cares about. Her motivations are driven by a strong sense of loyalty, a desire to protect life, and a commitment to fighting only for meaningful reasons rather than for pride or destruction. She values her bonds with her comrades and holds a deep-seated contempt for pointless conflict.

Neliel's role in the story is that of a powerful former enemy who becomes a valuable ally. After being reduced to a child, she wanders Hueco Mundo with her loyal former Fraccion, Pesche Guatiche and Dondochakka Birstanne, who pretend to be her older brothers to protect her. She eventually encounters Ichigo Kurosaki during his invasion of Las Noches to rescue Orihime Inoue and grows deeply attached to him. During a desperate battle in which Nnoitra tortures Ichigo, Neliel's traumatic memories resurface, and she unconsciously reverts to her adult form. She effortlessly defeats Nnoitra's Fraccion and forces Nnoitra himself into a corner, even releasing her Resurreccion, Gamuza, which transforms her into a powerful centaur-like being wielding a double-ended lance. However, her transformation prematurely ends due to the instability of her power before she can deliver the final blow, causing her to revert to her child form and lose her memories again. Later, during the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, Kisuke Urahara creates a special bracelet that allows Neliel to consciously switch between her child and adult forms at will. She returns to the story as a fully capable ally, fighting alongside Ichigo and helping to protect Hueco Mundo alongside the former Tres Espada, Harribel.

Key relationships define her character arc. Her bond with Ichigo Kurosaki is central, as he is the catalyst for her temporary return to power and a person she becomes fiercely protective of. Her relationship with Nnoitra Gilga is one of antagonism rooted in his jealousy and her refusal to kill him, which ultimately leads to her downfall. Her former Fraccion, Pesche and Dondochakka, remain loyally by her side even in her weakened state, and she treats them as friends and family. She also works alongside Kisuke Urahara and Harribel in the later arcs, demonstrating her willingness to cooperate with former enemies for the greater good.

Neliel's development is a journey of loss, rediscovery of identity, and eventual recovery of agency. She begins as a powerful but betrayed Espada, loses her power, memories, and adulthood, and later regains them through emotional necessity and technological aid. Her ultimate growth is reflected in her ability to choose her form at will, symbolizing her regained control over her own power and destiny.

Her notable abilities as an adult include immense spiritual pressure and combat prowess that once placed her at the rank of Tres Espada. She possesses a unique technique called Cero Doble, in which she can swallow an opponent's Cero energy blast and fire it back combined with her own, effectively multiplying its power. Her Zanpakuto is named Gamuza, and its release command is sing. Upon releasing her Resurreccion, Neliel transforms into a half-human, half-ibex centaur with long, segmented horns, white armor covering her shoulders and arms, and a double-ended lance. In this form, she can execute powerful attacks such as Lanzador Verde, where she throws her high-speed, spinning lance like a drill to pierce opponents. She also retains her child form's rapid pounce attack and the healing properties of her saliva, though these features are less prominent in her adult state.
