Description
Gido, also known by his true name Rikudo Gin, is an elderly man who lives in a cathedral on the edge of the Black Spot alongside Adam Blade and Eve. He stands 168 centimeters tall and is 61 years old, with gray hair and a noticeable, ongoing issue with hair loss. He is portrayed as an erudite individual with vast knowledge in numerous fields, particularly in the sciences.
In his everyday life within the cathedral, Gido acts as a caretaker and father figure to both Blade and Eve, raising them after they lost their memories. When the group confronts the forces of the Simeon corporation, his role is primarily a non-combatant one. He serves as a commentator and strategist for the team, using his intelligence to analyze situations and provide crucial information rather than engaging in direct conflict.
However, this persona is a carefully constructed facade. Gido is later revealed to be a former researcher on the Adam Project, the very experiment that led to the creation of Adam Blade and Adam Arclight. His involvement stems from a deeply personal motivation: he hoped to save a woman named Kasumi Ogiha, for whom he harbored strong feelings, as well as Eve, from a catastrophic event involving a dangerous entity. In a desperate attempt to rescue them, he injected himself with the Eden Seeds, a process that transformed him into a Needless.
This transformation granted him abilities of an incredibly high order. Gido is secretly a member of the organization known as the Triple Six, and his power is such that he is considered the strongest of the Adam series, surpassing both Blade and Arclight in perfection. His designation within this series is Adam-Z. When he unleashes his full power, his frail elderly body undergoes a dramatic physical transformation, becoming muscular and formidable. In this state, he demonstrates the ability to easily defeat both Blade and Eve, as well as directly challenge a god-like Arclight.
Gido shared a complex history with Saten, cooperating with him based on the shared goal of using the abilities of an angel from another dimension to separate Kasumi from Eve and bring her back to life. To maintain this plan and protect those around him, Gido chose to seal away his own memories and his immense power as Adam-Z for a significant portion of the story. His most notable weakness when using his full power is that his body gradually begins to fall apart, growing weaker the longer he fights.
