TV-Series
Description
Disc, also known as Disk, is a character from the anime and manga series Needless. At a glance, she appears to be a young girl with white or silver hair styled into twintails and yellow eyes, but this appearance is deceptive. She is a cyborg, or a half-machine, who has actually lived for over one hundred years, a fact that often surprises those who meet her. Her height is listed at 130 centimeters for her standard body, with an alternate lightweight frame reaching 140 centimeters.

Her background is that of an information dealer residing in the Iron Mountain area. As a half-machine, she possesses the unique ability to store vast quantities of electronic data directly within her own body, functioning as a living database. Any information that cannot be stored internally is kept on card-type media that she carries with her.

Disc's personality is a notable mix of her immense age and her youthful appearance. She freely admits to enjoying risqué or suggestive humor, even going so far as to call herself a library of dirty jokes. Her age seems to have given her a lack of inhibition regarding such topics, which she discusses with a sense of amusement. Despite her often crude sense of humor, she is generally helpful and willingly joins the main group. Her decision to accompany Adam Blade and his companions is made on her own initiative after her location is compromised by the Simeon corporation. Blade, for his part, agrees to let her join largely because her scanning ability can provide potentially useful information, such as the measurements of female opponents.

Her primary role in the story is as a source of information and support. She possesses a fragment ability known as Scan, which allows her to analyze and see through an opponent's capabilities and physical data. However, her usefulness is not limited to analysis. Her cyborg body is equipped with built-in firearms, allowing her to handle a certain level of combat. She can also use special cables from her body to hack directly into computer systems and can even administer basic first aid. One of her more powerful combat techniques is Destroy Evolution, where she unleashes a barrage of heavy weaponry, including a super-powerful laser, from hidden compartments within her body. A peculiar quirk is that her personality drastically changes whenever she is behind the wheel of a vehicle.

In terms of key relationships, Disc functions as a valuable ally to the protagonist Adam Blade and his group, which includes Eve Neuschweinstein and Cruz Schild. Her information and hacking skills prove essential on several missions, and she acts as a guide and analyst for the team. While she fights alongside them, her advanced age and unique nature set her apart, and she often acts with an air of self-assuredness that comes from her long life.

Disc undergoes a significant physical development over the course of the story. After a fierce battle, her body's mechanisms are heavily damaged, leaving her forced to operate as just a head for a considerable period. Even in this state, she remains active; her built-in speakers allow her to speak, she can move using attachments or a Testament machine, and she learns to manipulate her hair with great dexterity to perform various tasks. During this time, she demonstrates a technique called Twin-tail Drill, where she transforms her hair into drills and propels herself with a jet from her neck. Later, when all the necessary parts are gathered, she is rebuilt into a new, fully armored body, referred to as New Full Armor Disc-chan.

Her notable abilities are diverse and stem from her nature as an advanced half-machine. Her primary fragment is Scan, used for analysis. Beyond that, her capabilities include internal data storage, direct computer hacking via her Three-Minute Hacking technique, and the deployment of heavy firepower from her body like the Destroy Evolution attack. Her ability to function and communicate even when reduced to a mere head, using her hair as manipulators, highlights her resilience and mechanical design.
