Description
Eiko Nikaidou serves as a supporting character in the narrative, functioning as a medical examiner employed at the North Japan Medical Examiner's Office. In this capacity, she works closely with the Ayanagi City police, lending her professional expertise to their operations. She is described as having brown hair cut to neck length and brown eyes, and her typical attire includes a labcoat and a turtleneck, reflecting her professional environment.

Her background is deeply intertwined with the Kanzato family, as she is a long-time family friend who has known the three Kanzato brothers since they were young. She appears frequently in flashbacks that showcase her established place in their lives. Following the return of the younger brothers, Jun and Shin, to Ayanagi City, she becomes a frequent visitor to their household. In these interactions, she often checks in on the brothers and takes it upon herself to chide Ryo, the eldest, for not being more open and communicative with his siblings. She thinks of Shin and Jun almost like younger brothers, demonstrating a caring, sisterly affection for them.

In terms of personality, Eiko is shown to be a proactive and discreet individual. She is willing to involve herself in dangerous and secretive matters, as evidenced by her decision to discreetly aid Ryo Kanzato in his investigation into the Reverse cases. However, she is not fully aware of the extent of Ryo's own involvement or his deep knowledge of the phenomena they are investigating. Her motivations are largely driven by her long-standing connection to the Kanzato family and her specific concern for Ryo. As Ryo grows increasingly determined and obsessed with confronting a man named Keisuke Komatsubara, Eiko becomes worried about his path. Her concern leads her to seek out Kunio Ito, a person connected to the situation, and offer to help him investigate Ryo, hoping to understand or perhaps intervene in Ryo's plans.

This drive to protect or understand Ryo ultimately defines the tragic arc of her role in the story. When Ryo manages to elude her attempt to track him, she does not give up. She persists and manages to locate him in the middle of a direct and dangerous confrontation with Komatsubara. Despite Ryo’s warnings for her to stay away from the perilous scene, she approaches. This action leads to her being killed in front of Ryo, an event that carries significant weight for his character.

Key relationships are central to her character. Her dynamic with Shin Kanzato is marked by his long-standing crush on her, though her attention and focus are consistently directed toward Ryo. The nature of her relationship with Ryo is complex and intimate; there is an indication that she and Ryo were particularly close for a period of time. The depth of Shin’s feelings for her is illustrated in an idealized dream world, where he imagines that Ryo and Eiko are engaged. Regarding her abilities, Eiko possesses the professional skills of a medical examiner, including forensic knowledge that aids police investigations. Within the context of the supernatural events of the story, she has no notable special powers or Persona abilities and is portrayed as a normal human whose courage and loyalty ultimately place her in fatal danger.
