Description
Alti is a Sibylla, a priestess who pilots a Simoun, and a member of the elite aerial squadron Chor Tempest. She is sixteen years old and hails from the theocracy of Simulacrum. Alti is the younger twin sister of Kaimu, who serves in the same squadron.

In terms of personality, Alti is characterized as serious and focused, possessing a strong-minded and determined nature. Unlike her sister Kaimu, who can be indecisive and shy, Alti is more forthright in her convictions. Despite this outward strength, she is deeply troubled by the fractured relationship with her twin. She carries a significant amount of guilt, feeling responsible for the distance that has grown between them. A notable personal interest is bird watching, which offers a glimpse into her quieter, more contemplative side.

The central motivation for Alti's actions is her complex and intense feelings for her sister, Kaimu. She harbors a deep-seated desire to protect Kaimu, a wish so powerful that it influences her thoughts about the future, specifically the ritual of choosing a permanent gender at the Springs. Her primary goal is to mend the rift between them and restore their bond.

Alti's role within Chor Tempest is defined by her partnership with her piloting partner, Floe. Together, they are considered veterans within the squadron, providing a sense of stability and experience compared to other members. Her personal storyline, however, runs parallel to the main war plot and focuses on the private turmoil she shares with her sister.

The most critical relationship in Alti's life is with Kaimu. Their dynamic is fraught with tension stemming from a past incident where the two sisters had a sexual encounter during a moment of childhood fear and anxiety. This event deeply altered their relationship, causing Kaimu to become angry and withdrawn, while Alti was left with overwhelming grief and helplessness as their former closeness crumbled. Throughout the series, Alti is shown grappling with this guilt and her sister's rejection, often observing Kaimu from a distance. Her relationship with her partner Floe is notably different, functioning as a strong and reliable friendship rather than a romantic one.

Alti undergoes significant emotional development over the course of the story. She begins in a state of sadness and helplessness, troubled by her sister's animosity. A key moment in her development involves a discussion with the squadron's leader, Neviril, where she confronts her own feelings of weakness. Ultimately, she and Kaimu are able to have an honest conversation about their past, leading to a reconciliation. They acknowledge their shared mistake and resolve not to let it dictate their future as siblings. By the end of the series, Alti has grown past her turmoil, choosing to remain female at the gender-selecting spring and finding peace, living quietly with her sister in their old family home.

As a Sibylla, Alti is a skilled Simoun pilot. The most notable demonstration of her ability is the synchronization required to fly with her partner, Floe, which they accomplish effectively. However, when paired with her sister, their deep-seated emotional conflict and mutual rejection caused a dangerous Simoun malfunction, illustrating how a pilot's emotional state and the harmony between partners directly affect the aircraft's divine power.
