Description
Paraietta is a central character in the anime Simoun, where she serves as second-in-command of the Chor Tempest unit, a squadron of Sibylla pilots who operate the sacred flying vessels called Simoun. She is eighteen years old and a citizen of the nation of Simulacrum. She has shoulder-length purple hair and olive-colored eyes, stands about 1.70 meters tall, and carries herself with a stern, serious, and somewhat brusque manner. She is widely regarded as a capable and respected Sibylla among her peers.

Paraietta's background is closely tied to that of Chor Tempest's leader, Neviril. The two grew up together as childhood friends, and Paraietta entered Sibylla training at the age of eight alongside her. Her choice to join Chor Tempest was motivated primarily by her attachment to Neviril, and throughout the story she remains one of the unit's most loyal and dependable members. Her devotion to Neviril is deeply personal, as Paraietta carries a strong romantic love for her friend that is never returned. This unrequited affection quietly shapes much of her inner life, and she continues to support Neviril through periods of grief, doubt, and crisis even while keeping her own feelings largely unspoken.

As a pilot, Paraietta flies as an auriga, the crew member responsible for commanding the craft and drawing the Ri Maajon, and she is paired with Kaimu. Together the two operate a Simoun known as the Typhoon. In combat and on reconnaissance missions she is steady and effective, and her skill in the air makes her essential to the success of Chor Tempest's operations. Beyond her abilities as a pilot, she frequently serves as the practical anchor of the unit, acting as the voice of reason and the person who makes critical decisions when the group is under strain or divided. When morale among the members begins to fracture, Paraietta is often the one who tries to hold everyone together, even when she herself is struggling with the same doubts.

Her primary motivations early in the story are duty and loyalty: following Neviril into the conflict, protecting the people around her, and carrying out the responsibilities expected of a Sibylla even when the cost is high. Over time, her personal desires come into conflict with that sense of duty. She struggles openly with her feelings for Neviril, and this inner turmoil eventually builds to an emotional confrontation between the two women, a turning point that forces Paraietta to reconsider the future she had always imagined for herself.

That imagined future was centered on Neviril. In the world of the series, people choose their sex upon reaching adulthood, and Paraietta had long planned to become a man so that she could be with Neviril. By the end of the story, she instead chooses to remain female, a decision that shocks those who know her. She has come to accept that her love for Neviril will not be reciprocated, and she decides that she wants the chance to experience being truly loved by someone else in the same way she loved Neviril. In the epilogue, she is shown working at a kindergarten alongside Rodoreamon, having built a quiet life for herself and reached a measure of peace with the choices she made.
