Description
Mina Simington, known in the Japanese version as Mikage Sagiri, is a supporting character in the anime Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. She serves as the meek and dedicated secretary to Rex Goodwin, the head of Sector Security, and is assigned to keep watch over the Duel King, Jack Atlas. Despite her loyalty and earnest efforts, Mina has a tendency to unintentionally provoke the displeasure of her superiors, often through her nervous or overly eager behavior.

Her primary motivation is her deep affection for Jack Atlas, which places her in romantic rivalry with other characters such as Carly Nagisa and Stephanie. In turn, the security officer known as Trudge harbors an unrequited crush on Mina. Her feelings for Jack drive much of her personal involvement in events, and she is often seen observing his duels and trying to support him from the sidelines.

Mina's role in the story is mostly that of a background figure who provides information and logistical support. She reports Jack's activities to Goodwin, and during the Fortune Cup arc, she assists in monitoring the tournament's proceedings. Later, she accompanies Jack and others on a trip to the Satellite district, where she reveals the hidden truth that the divide between New Domino City and Satellite was caused not by an earthquake but by a malfunction of the first Ener-D reactor, a fact deliberately concealed by the authorities. This moment highlights her awareness of the city's secrets and her willingness to share them when it matters.

Personality-wise, Mina is portrayed as kind, understanding, and somewhat nervous. Unlike many other members of Sector Security, she is not antagonistic toward the main protagonists and demonstrates compassion. Her dedication to her job and to Jack is unwavering, yet her clumsiness often leads to comedic situations. Over the course of the series, her appearance changes slightly: during the third arc, she is depicted with longer hair and keeps her jacket unbuttoned, indicating a subtle maturation.

Mina does not engage in dueling within the anime; her notable abilities are observational and administrative rather than combative. She is not a Signer or a Dark Signer, and she does not possess any supernatural powers. Her development is minimal, remaining a steady, loyal presence who occasionally steps forward to offer assistance or reveal important information. She represents the ordinary citizens who are aware of the larger conflicts but must navigate the world of powerful duelists and political machinations from the periphery.
