TV-Series
Description
David Evans is the grandfather of the series' main protagonist, Mark Evans. He is a legendary former goalkeeper and the original coach of the famed Inazuma Eleven team from forty years prior to the main story. Known for his creative genius, he is the inventor of numerous powerful special moves, with the God Hand being among the most famous. He shares many personality traits with his grandson, displaying the same boundless optimism, unwavering determination, deep love for football, and natural leadership both on and off the field. Throughout his youth, he was an exceptionally dedicated athlete, always striving for improvement, which made him one of the greatest goalkeepers of his era and a regular for the national team.

During the first season of the story, David Evans is believed to be dead, having reportedly perished in a tragic accident. Despite his physical absence, he plays a crucial role as the hero and role model for his grandson. Mark often speaks to a portrait of him and relies on a series of notebooks left behind by his grandfather. These notebooks, filled with his thoughts and football techniques written in very messy handwriting using drawings and onomatopoeia that only Mark can decipher, help the team learn new hissatsu techniques. Over time, it is revealed that his apparent death was a ruse. For forty years, he was in conflict with a powerful figure and chose to abandon his family, team, and country to flee into hiding. He settled on the coast of Côte-Victoire in South Africa under a different name, where he was welcomed by the local people and contributed to their community through fishing and other tasks.

In the third season, David Evans resurfaces as the coach of the formidable team Little Gigantes. He had taken a group of very young children under his wing and developed their talents into the best team in the world. While his grandson and Inazuma Japan compete in the Football Frontier International tournament, David interacts with Mark without revealing his true identity, giving him advice that helps him develop his own original technique, the Dimension Hand. After the truth of his survival comes to light, he temporarily takes charge of Inazuma Japan for a critical match. In the final of the tournament, he coaches Little Gigantes against his grandson's team, having earlier mentored Nelly Raimon in match analysis before sending her back to help Inazuma Japan prepare. Throughout the process, he constantly kept a thought for his family, following Mark’s journey from his first match at Raimon.

Years later, in the events of Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stone, the original David Evans has passed away. A temporal deviation creates an alternative version of him, found in his final moments. He is persuaded to coach the Raimon team, helping them create the ultimate team to save football. Using his profound knowledge, he selects players for time-travel missions, teaches his technique God Hand X to a new goalkeeper, and provides crucial advice to other players to unlock their full potential.

David Evans maintains significant key relationships throughout the narrative. He is the father of Sharon Evans, the grandfather of Mark Evans, and a distant ancestor of Canon Evans. He was a mentor figure to Patrick Green, who helped him escape Japan. He has a long-standing antagonistic relationship with Ray Dark, who despised him for being part of the generation of players that kept Dark's father off the national team. He also serves as a mentor to Nelly Raimon, teaching her to analyze opponents, and to the captain of the Little Gigantes, Hector Helio.

Among his notable abilities, David Evans is credited with inventing several ultimate hissatsu techniques. These include the God Hand, which he and his grandson use, as well as the improved version, God Hand X. He also created powerful techniques like The Earth, which channels the combined energy of every player on the field into the ball for a decisive strike. Other techniques he invented include the Majin the Hand, the Justice Punch, the Infinite Hands, and the Celestial Smash. His creativity in developing such a wide array of powerful moves solidifies his status as an exceptional player and coach.
