TV-Series
Description
Percy Travis, also known by his full name Percival Travis, is a coach in the anime Inazuma Eleven and is the localized version of the Japanese character Michiya Kudou. He first appears as a secondary character during the third season of the series, where he becomes the coach of the national team Inazuma Japan.
In terms of background, Travis was previously the coach of a team called Cherrybloom. During his time there, an incident occurred involving his players, and he accepted full responsibility for it. As a result, he lost his coaching license and was barred from coaching for ten years before he was able to recover it. Travis is also the adoptive father of Camellia Travis, a girl he raised after the death of her parents, and she regards him as her father even though they are not biologically related.
As a person, Travis is a mysterious and severe figure who is almost always serious. The players he coaches initially place little trust in him, and some view him as a jinxed or unlucky coach because of his troubled past. His training exercises often seem strange or baffling at first, but they eventually prove to be effective in improving the team's performance. His decisions are guided by a strong sense of responsibility, as demonstrated by his willingness to take the blame for the Cherrybloom incident, and by his commitment to bringing out the best in the players under his charge.
In the story, his main role is as the coach of Inazuma Japan during the international tournament, where he guides the team despite the initial doubts of its members. His relationship with the players develops over time, moving from suspicion to respect as his methods yield results. His most significant personal relationship is with Camellia Travis, whose care and upbringing are central to his private life. In the later series Inazuma Eleven Go, he appears once again as the coach of Raimon and assists the movement known as the Revolution.
Physically, Travis is an adult man with gray hair cut to neck length and black eyes. He typically wears a dark turquoise jacket over a gray shirt with black trousers. His notable abilities as a coach include tactical understanding and unconventional training that challenges his players but ultimately strengthens them.
