TV-Series
Description
Harley Kane, known in the original Japanese version as Tsunami Jousuke, is a character who joins the Raimon team during the second season of the series after being recruited from Okinawa. His background is closely tied to the sea; he is introduced as a talented surfer whose exceptional balance and agility on the waves translate naturally to the soccer field. His appearance reflects this coastal origin, featuring tall and lean physique with tanned skin, paired with unusually long, light pink hair. He is often seen wearing a pair of diving goggles pushed up on his forehead, a visual reminder of his life as a surfer.

In terms of personality, Kane is defined by a relaxed and carefree demeanor, typical of a surfer, but this calm exterior masks a surprisingly stubborn and competitive spirit. He is not easily discouraged and rarely gives up on a challenge. This headstrong nature is best illustrated during his first encounter with the team, specifically with Jude Sharp. When Sharp comments that soccer is likely too complicated for him and that he will never be able to play, Kane takes this as a direct challenge, fueling his determination to prove him wrong. He is consistently portrayed as a supportive teammate who does not hesitate to encourage others or stand up for an underdog.

Kane’s role in the story begins as an outsider who impresses the Raimon team with his raw, instinctive athleticism. He eventually becomes a key player for both Raimon and later for the national team, Inazuma Japan, wearing the number four jersey. On the field, his primary position is as a defender, though he has also been known to play as a midfielder. His surfer upbringing heavily influences his playing style, giving him a unique sense of movement and spatial awareness. This is reflected in his signature hissatsu techniques, which are almost all water or sea-themed. His individual moves include the Tsunami, Gran Tifon, and Water Cannon, all powerful shots that evoke the force of the ocean. He also participates in combination techniques, such as the Perfect Tower alongside Tori and Scotty, and is a contributor to the ultimate team move The Earth with the rest of the Raimon squad.

His key relationships are often built on mutual respect with his fellow defensive players. He shows a notable competitive friendship with Jude Sharp, who initially doubted his abilities. As the series progresses into the Go series, Kane’s appearance evolves slightly; his hair is shown to be somewhat shorter and less spiky, and he often wears a whistle around his neck, suggesting a potential mentoring or leadership role at his local Mary Times Memorial team in Okinawa, which is his original club. Throughout the series, his relentless optimism and refusal to back down from a challenge make him a reliable and energetic presence on the team.
