Description
Domon Asuka, known as Bobby Shearer in some localizations, is a defender who becomes a key supporting character in the Inazuma Eleven series. His background is deeply rooted in his childhood in the United States, where he lived alongside his close friends Kazuya Ichinose, Aki Kino, and Mamoru Nishigaki. The four of them shared a passion for soccer, but their time together was shattered when Domon witnessed what he believed to be a fatal accident involving Ichinose. Traumatized by the event and believing his best friend to be dead, Domon drifted away from the sport he once loved. He eventually returned to Japan and enrolled at the prestigious Teikoku Gakuen, which was under the shadowy influence of Kageyama Reiji.

Domon is later transferred to Raimon Junior High, but his arrival is not what it seems. He initially acts as a spy for Teikoku, tasked with gathering intelligence on the Raimon soccer club and its captain, Mamoru Endou. While his outward demeanor appears laid-back and somewhat flippant, this masks a more complex and conflicted interior. Despite his mission, Domon genuinely cares for the sport and dislikes seeing anyone get hurt. As he spends time with the Raimon team, he is struck by their hard work, dedication, and unwavering spirit, particularly that of Endou. This experience begins to change him, as he finds that with Endou, he can run and fight alongside a teammate, which was a different feeling from his time with Ichinose, who was always ahead of him and whom he felt he could never quite catch up to. His crisis of conscience comes to a head when he discovers that Raimon's coach, Fuyukai, who is also a spy from Teikoku, plans to sabotage the team's bus. Unable to stand by and let his new teammates be harmed, Domon writes an anonymous letter exposing the plot. After the coach is dismissed, Domon confesses his own role as a spy. While some team members resent his betrayal, Endou publicly forgives him, acknowledging his genuine love for soccer, and Domon is officially accepted as a true member of Raimon, donning the number 13 jersey and solidifying his position in the defense.

Domon's motivations are driven by loyalty, guilt, and a search for a place where he belongs. He is fiercely protective of his friends, a trait that leads him to betray his original masters to protect Raimon. His development throughout the series is significant. In the first season, he transitions from an antagonist spy to a trusted teammate and close friend of Endou. He later reunites with Ichinose, who is miraculously alive, at Raimon, and together they revive their childhood combination plays, such as Tri-Pegasus, which later evolves into the powerful The Phoenix. His role continues to evolve in the second season, during the alien invasion from Aliea Gakuen. Domon remains a steadfast member of the Raimon team, and his trust in the enigmatic coach Hitomiko, whom he and Ichinose seem to understand, is crucial to the team's journey to Mount Fuji. In a critical match against The Genesis, he participates in the devastating combination move Death Zone 2 alongside Endou and Yuuto Kidou to score a goal. For the Football Frontier International tournament in the third season, Domon returns to America to represent his home country as a member of the national team, Unicorn, alongside Ichinose. Sporting the number 5 jersey, he proves to be a formidable defender against his former friends on Inazuma Japan, showcasing his growth with evolved versions of his signature techniques like Volcano Cut and Killer Slide. It is also during this arc that his deep loyalty is tested, as he deliberately hides that Ichinose has not fully recovered from a prior injury, a secret he keeps to honor his best friend's desire to play.

Key relationships define Domon's character. His bond with Mamoru Endou is foundational, as Endou's leadership and acceptance provide him with a sense of belonging and a team he can fight for. His relationship with Kazuya Ichinose is the most complex, colored by childhood friendship, the trauma of loss, a sense of rivalry and inferiority, and a deep, abiding loyalty that continues into adulthood. He also shares a long history with the team manager, Aki Kino, and there are ambiguous hints in later series that either he or Ichinose may have romantic feelings for her. In the alternate timeline presented in Inazuma Eleven Orion no Kokuin, Domon is a member of Star Unicorn, the American team. He is shown to be conflic about facing Inazama Japan, whom he considers friends, and is immediately suspicious of the Orion Foundation's corrupting influence on the tournament. This timeline further demonstrates his vigilance and his willingness to protect his teammates from dangerous conspiracies.

In terms of abilities, Domon is a tall and lanky player with distinct light blue or ash-green hair and tanned skin. His skills as a defender are potent and varied. He possesses powerful individual defensive techniques such as Killer Slide, a rapid and aggressive sliding tackle, and Volcano Cut, a robust blocking move. Offensively, he is a key component of several powerful combination hissatsu techniques. He works in tandem with Endou and Ichinose to perform Tri-Pegasus and its evolved form, The Phoenix. With Endou and Kidou, he is one-third of the powerful shot Death Zone 2. In the games, he can also learn other notable combination moves like The Icarus and Final Tornado. His experience, tactical awareness, and ability to contribute to both the defensive line and combination plays make him a consistently reliable and skilled player.
