Description
Akio Fudou is a supporting character known for his aggressive playing style and sharp tongue. He initially appears as the captain and a midfielder for Shin Teikoku Gakuen, also known as the True Imperial Academy, before being selected to join the Japanese national team, Inazuma Japan.

His background is marked by a difficult childhood. Fudou's father was forced to resign from his job, taking the blame for his boss's mistakes, and subsequently abandoned the family. Following this, his mother urged him to become strong and avoid his father's fate, a sentiment Fudou misinterpreted as a need to pursue power ruthlessly. This drive led him to ally with the sinister coach Kageyama Reiji, helping to form Shin Teikoku as a means to gain strength.

Fudou's personality is initially defined by arrogance, cynicism, and a solitary nature. He makes sarcastic and often harsh remarks, appearing indifferent to the well-being of his teammates. His playstyle reflects this attitude, as he prefers to rely on his own abilities and is distrustful of others. However, his actions occasionally reveal that he does care for his team, despite his abrasive exterior. He possesses a strong will to win and is highly ambitious, largely motivated by a desire to prove his strength and never be abandoned again.

In the story, Fudou serves as an antagonist in the second season as the leader of Shin Teikoku. He uses the power of the Aliea Meteorite and is shown to be a formidable strategist, matching wits with Kidou Yuuto. After his team is defeated, he is abandoned by Kageyama, only to be scouted later by Coach Hibiki to try out for Inazuma Japan in the third season. Initially treated as a wildcard or joker by Coach Kudou, Fudou is benched for several matches before being deployed as a secret weapon. His role on the national team evolves into that of a second playmaker or commander, often working alongside Kidou to break down opposing teams' tactics.

Key relationships heavily influence his development. He shares a deep rivalry with Kidou Yuuto, frequently clashing with him but ultimately respecting his strategic mind. His relationship with Sakuma Jirou is also significant; they start as uneasy allies from their time at Shin Teikoku but later become close enough to develop combination techniques. A major turning point for Fudou occurs during the Football Frontier International tournament when he, along with Kidou and Sakuma, confronts their shared past with Kageyama by creating the hissatsu tactic Emperor Penguin No. 3, symbolizing their independence from his influence. Through these experiences, he gradually learns to trust his teammates and integrate into the group, though he remains blunt and outspoken.

In terms of notable abilities, Fudou is a highly intelligent and tactical midfielder. While not lacking in individual technique, his greatest strength lies in his ability to read the game and dismantle opponent strategies. He possesses several hissatsu techniques, including the defensive move Killer Slide, the combination shot Killer Fields developed with Kidou, and the collaborative shot Emperor Penguin No. 3 performed with Kidou and Sakuma. He also participates in other combination techniques like Maximum Circus and Death Crusher Zone. In later appearances, such as in Inazuma Eleven GO, an older Fudou is shown to have longer hair and takes on the role of coach for Resistance Japan, indicating a maturation of his character while retaining his core traits.
