TV-Series
Description
Haruya Nagumo is a recurring opponent and eventual ally from the Inazuma Eleven series. He is a forward known for his fiery red hair, styled into four distinct flame-like spikes, with two longer bangs framing his face. His eyes are a dark golden color, and he has a single long lower eyelash beneath each one. In his initial appearances as part of the Aliea Gakuen teams, he often has line markings beneath his eyes.
His real name is Haruya Nagumo, but he is also known by his alien identity, Burn, as a member of Aliea Gakuen. During this time, he serves as the captain of the team Prominence. He is characterized by a rebellious, arrogant, and impulsive personality. Nagumo possesses a fiery temperament and hates taking orders, particularly from those he sees as rivals. He is highly competitive and determined to prove that he is the strongest, driven by a strong jealousy of those he considers superior to him.
Nagumo's primary motivation stems from his desire to surpass Gran, the captain of the top Aliea Gakuen team, The Genesis. Enraged that Gran's team was promoted above his own, he joins forces with his rival, Suzuno Fuusuke (also known as Gazel), to form a new, more powerful team called Chaos. He also seeks to test his strength against notable opponents, once posing as a rumored flame striker in Okinawa to challenge the Raimon team directly.
In the story, Nagumo is first introduced during the Aliea Gakuen arc. After his plan to join Raimon is foiled, he battles them as the captain of Prominence and later as a co-leader of Chaos. In the subsequent Football Frontier International (FFI) arc, he is scouted to play for the South Korean national team, Fire Dragon, alongside Aphrodi and his former rival Suzuno. His key relationships are central to his character development. He shares a deep rivalry with Suzuno Fuusuke, which is described as a "volcanic" nature being the complete opposite of Suzuno's icy demeanor. This rivalry eventually evolves into a partnership, both on Chaos and later on Fire Dragon. His intense competition with Hiroto Kiyama, known as Gran, initially drives his antagonistic actions but also pushes him to become a stronger player.
Over time, Nagumo's character shows development from a purely antagonistic figure to a more complex rival and ally. While he remains brash and proud, his later appearances with Fire Dragon show him cooperating effectively with former enemies. He also appears in the alternate timeline of Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin as a forward for Eisei Gakuen.
Nagumo possesses several notable special abilities on the field. His signature shooting technique is Atomic Flare, a powerful flame-based shot that he uses to break through formidable defenses. When combined with Suzuno Fuusuke, they can execute the combination technique Fire Blizzard. While playing for Fire Dragon, he also develops the powerful three-man combination shot Chaos Break alongside Aphrodi and Suzuno.
