Description
Bachō Mōki, whose real name is Sui, is a central character known for her role as a skilled and impulsive warrior. She is the daughter of Batō, a local lord whose territory in Ryōshū was taken over by the powerful Sōsō, an event that led to her father's death. This tragedy is the defining event of her backstory, leaving her homeless and driven by a desire for revenge.

In the anime adaptation, Bachō presents herself as a cool and laid-back tomboy, often speaking in a blunt and straightforward manner. However, this exterior masks a much more sensitive and easily embarrassed personality. She is notably simple and headstrong, preferring to rely on her immense physical strength to solve problems rather than complex strategies. Bachō suffers from a lack of confidence in her own feminine appeal, which makes her highly flustered by anything romantic or perverted. This sensitivity is a source of frequent teasing from her close companions, to which she reacts by becoming greatly flustered, stuttering, and sometimes lashing out with a tsundere attitude.

Her primary motivation throughout much of the story is to avenge her father's death by confronting Sōsō. She initially joins the main group for this purpose. However, over the course of the narrative, she undergoes significant emotional development. Through her experiences and bonds with new friends, she gradually comes to peace with her past and ultimately forgives Sōsō, letting go of her quest for revenge. She is one of the earliest members to join the protagonist's group, being the third person to do so, and quickly becomes close friends with the similarly energetic and strong Chōhi.

As a warrior, Bachō is exceptionally proficient, having trained from a young age. Her weapon of choice is a jumonji yari, a cross-shaped spear that is effective for both slashing and stabbing, which she wields with tremendous power and precision. Her physical prowess, including her strength, speed, and stamina, far exceeds that of ordinary soldiers. On the battlefield, she often fights alongside Chōhi, and their combined strength is depicted as being able to launch enemy soldiers through the air. She is also arguably the best horse-rider in the series, a skill that comes from her family's deep connection to the cavalry forces of Ryōshū. This makes her a capable general, especially when leading cavalry charges. A unique ability she possesses in the anime is the power to read the aura of her opponents, allowing her to gauge their strength and honesty. Her notable techniques include the ougi Hakuginranbu, a lightning-fast flurry of slashes, and the Hiougi Hakuginki no Mai, known as the Silver Princess Dance.
