Description
Lector is one of the twelve White Angels, a being known as Lector the Pure White within the Holy Empire. He is later revealed to be the primary antagonist of the story. His background is tied to the White Angels, a group of celestial beings who created the world and have repeatedly destroyed it over many ages because the beings they made, including humans, elves, giants, and dragons, did not meet their standards of physical perfection. For centuries, a barrier created by Arawn and Pwyll prevented the White Angels from directly interfering with the world. Lector was eventually sent down to the surface alone after the barrier was penetrated. Once on the surface, he helped establish the Holy Empire, using it as a tool to further his plan to destroy the barrier and allow the White Angels to reset the world once more.

Lector’s personality is marked by an obsessive fixation on perfection, particularly regarding his own appearance. He reacts with extreme agitation and near madness when his face is scratched by Arthur. He is cunning and manipulative, rising to power by influencing the Emperor through astrology. He is ruthless and power-hungry, showing no hesitation in pursuing his goals. His motivation stems from the White Angels’ collective belief that the world and its inhabitants are flawed failures unworthy of existence. He seeks to annihilate the current creation and start over, viewing humanity and other races as disposable.

In the story, Lector serves as the main antagonist who operates from the shadows. He manipulates the Holy Empire’s Emperor, eventually leading him to his death in the North Ice zone of Albion at the Castle of Palladium. Lector’s role is to orchestrate events that will bring down the barrier protecting the world, allowing the White Angels to return and begin another cycle of destruction.

His key relationships include the other eleven White Angels, with whom he shares the goal of achieving perfection through repeated world resets. He manipulates the Emperor of the Holy Empire, using the ruler’s desire for long life as leverage. He is directly opposed by Arthur, who manages to injure his face and provoke his fury. Lector also stands in opposition to Arawn, the demon king resurrected by the Gael tribe, and the forces aligned with him.

Lector undergoes little personal change; he remains driven by the White Angels’ collective agenda throughout the story. His development is largely a revelation of his true nature and the full scope of his plans as the narrative progresses.

His notable abilities include his status as a White Angel, granting him significant power and influence. He is skilled in astrology, which he uses to influence the Emperor and rise through the ranks of the Holy Empire. He also possesses the magical knowledge and authority necessary to orchestrate the rituals and schemes aimed at breaking the barrier that confines the White Angels.
