TV-Series
Description
Mori Ranmaru is a young boy who serves as an officer in the Oda army under Oda Nobunaga. Originally a battlefield orphan, he became drawn to Nobunaga after seeing him on the battlefield and began following him of his own accord, eventually joining the Oda forces. His entire existence revolves around seeking recognition and approval from Nobunaga, whom he regards as an absolute and unparalleled figure. This desire to be acknowledged by his master is the primary motivation behind every action he takes in battle.

Ranmaru possesses a childlike and innocent demeanor, but this innocence is paired with a startling lack of moral awareness. He does not distinguish clearly between right and wrong; his actions are guided solely by what will please Nobunaga. Because of this, he shows no hesitation or remorse when cutting down enemies, and his ruthless efficiency on the battlefield has earned him the fearful nickname "Child of the Demon King" from both friend and foe alike. Nobunaga rewards Ranmaru for his successes in battle with treats such as candy, which the boy eagerly receives as a sign of his master's favor.

In the story, Ranmaru functions as a loyal page and a devoted retainer within the Oda faction, often appearing alongside Nobunaga and taking an active role in combat. He has a close relationship with Nobunaga's wife, Nouhime, who treats him with fondness and concern; she is notably distressed if Ranmaru is defeated on the battlefield. Another connection is that Ranmaru is the nephew of Motochika Chosokabe. Over the course of the series, Ranmaru's unwavering devotion remains constant, and his fate ultimately aligns with the historical account of his death during the Honno-ji incident, with his death being confirmed in Sengoku Basara 3.

Ranmaru's primary weapon is a large bow, which he carries and wields despite its size being comparable to his own height. He is skilled in archery and uses it to shoot down enemy soldiers with precision. His fighting style is direct and energetic, reflecting his youth and eagerness to prove himself. He is also known for his agility on the battlefield.
