Description
Milk, known in the original Japanese as Chi-Chi, is a central human character in the Dragon Ball Z Kai series. She is the daughter of the Ox-King and first appears as a young girl living on Fire Mountain. As a child, she is shy and innocent but also a capable fighter, able to defeat a dinosaur using the blade attachment on her helmet. She meets Goku during his early adventures and, after a misunderstanding, she interprets Goku’s offer to let her ride on his cloud as a marriage proposal. Goku, not understanding the concept, agrees, thinking marriage is a type of food. Years later, at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, a grown Milk enters anonymously and fights Goku. After he wins by pushing her out of the ring, he recognizes her and keeps his promise to marry her.

In Dragon Ball Z Kai, Milk’s role shifts to that of a wife and mother. She is fiercely protective of her family and prioritizes a normal, peaceful life for her sons, Gohan and Goten. Her strongest motivation is ensuring Gohan receives a proper education and stays away from dangerous battles, which often puts her at odds with Goku’s Saiyan nature and his desire to train their sons for combat. She is portrayed as an overprotective, strong-willed, and sometimes hot-tempered woman who does not hesitate to scold even the most powerful warriors if they put her family at risk. Despite her frequent anger, she deeply loves Goku and her children, and she demonstrates genuine pride in their achievements.

Her key relationships are with Goku, her husband, who is often oblivious to her concerns but cares for her; with her sons Gohan and Goten, whom she tries to steer toward academics and away from fighting; and with her father, the Ox-King, who supports her family. Throughout the series, Milk’s character develops from a young fighter into a matriarch who gradually accepts that her family is inevitably drawn into cosmic conflicts. She endures the stress of her son being trained by Piccolo, the death of Goku against Raditz, and the anxiety of Gohan’s travels to Namek. In the later arcs, she becomes somewhat more lenient, as seen when she allows Goten to train with Goku. While she does not participate in major battles, she retains the martial arts skills from her youth and is shown to be stronger than an ordinary human. Her most notable ability is her fierce temper, which can intimidate even superhuman characters.
