Description
Guldo is a fictional character from the anime Dragon Ball Z Kai, serving as a secondary antagonist. He is the smallest and physically least powerful member of the Ginyu Force, an elite squadron of warriors who work for the galactic tyrant Frieza. Despite his lack of physical strength, Guldo earned his place on the team through his unique and formidable psychic abilities.

Guldo is a short, round alien with light green skin and a distinctive facial structure featuring four eyes: two small ones positioned similarly to human eyes, and two much larger eyes located on the sides of his head. Due to his unusual head shape and lack of visible ears, he does not wear a scouter, the standard reconnaissance device used by Frieza's army. He wears a white variant of the customized battle armor common to Frieza's forces, which bears the Ginyu Force symbol on the chest plate.

Guldo's personality is marked by a strong hatred towards Saiyans, with a particular and intense loathing for Vegeta. This animosity stems from a past conflict shown in an anime flashback, where Vegeta insulted him, calling him names and questioning why Frieza would allow someone like him on the Ginyu Force. Guldo holds a grudge and dreams of the day he can personally destroy the Saiyan prince. He has an inferiority complex due to being the weakest member of his team, which causes him to become cowardly and desperate when a battle does not go his way. In these moments, he is willing to resort to underhanded tactics that he has not used in a long time. He is also portrayed as having a nasty and sadistic side, as he planned to eat Krillin and Gohan after impaling them and took pleasure in tormenting them when they were helpless.

Born a member of the Bas race, Guldo discovered his psychic powers during his childhood, using them for mischief such as lifting up girls' skirts and stealing toys. He eventually joined the Frieza Force and became the last member to join the Ginyu Force. His membership test required him to fight against the other members, Burter, Jeice, Recoome, and Captain Ginyu, with the aid of a single partner, and he successfully proved his worth.

In the story, Guldo and the rest of the Ginyu Force are dispatched to the planet Namek to retrieve the Dragon Balls for Frieza. Upon locating the Dragon Balls and the group of Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin, the Ginyu Force plays a game of rock-paper-scissors to decide who will fight whom. Guldo, as the runner-up, is assigned to fight Gohan and Krillin, much to his displeasure as he wanted to fight Vegeta. During the battle, he is initially overwhelmed by the speed and strength of the two young warriors, forcing him to rely on his psychic powers. He uses his ability to stop time to steal a Dragon Ball and attempts other sneak attacks. When these tactics fail, he uses his telekinesis to paralyze Gohan and Krillin completely, leaving them helpless. As he prepares to finish them off by impaling them with a sharpened tree trunk, Vegeta intervenes. The Saiyan prince decapitates Guldo, and his severed head remains alive just long enough to curse Vegeta for his unfair interference before being destroyed. This marks Guldo's death and the end of his primary role in the series. In later anime-exclusive filler arcs, he appears in the Other World alongside his deceased Ginyu Force comrades, where he is ultimately defeated and sent to Hell.

Guldo is notable for his unique abilities rather than his combat power. His signature technique is the Time Freeze, which allows him to stop time for as long as he can hold his breath. This ability is the primary reason for his membership in the otherwise physically mighty Ginyu Force. He also possesses powerful telekinesis, which he can use to lift objects or completely paralyze his opponents' bodies, rendering them unable to move. However, these abilities come with significant drawbacks. The Time Freeze requires him to hold his breath, which limits its duration. Furthermore, using his psychic powers, especially stopping time, rapidly depletes his stamina, leaving him exhausted and unable to perform even basic ki blasts after a few uses. Physically, he is very weak and out of shape, and he cannot sense ki, making him vulnerable to opponents who can mask their energy or attack from a distance.
