Description
Andrew Waldfeld, also known by his nickname Andy, is a prominent character in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and its sequel Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny. He is a Coordinator, born on July 20 in Cosmic Era 41. Standing 181 centimeters tall with brown hair and blue eyes, he is easily recognized by the prominent scars and his prosthetic left arm and left eye, which he acquired from a near-fatal battle. Before the events of Gundam Seed Destiny, Waldfeld was a celebrated commander in ZAFT, earning the legendary moniker "Desert Tiger" for his brilliant tactical leadership during the North African campaign, most notably for defeating a large enemy tank corps at El Alamein. His personality is known for being relaxed, brash, and easygoing, even in combat. He has a deep passion for coffee and interests in archaeology and paleontology. In the previous war, he was an enemy to the crew of the Archangel, engaging the protagonist Kira Yamato in philosophical discussions about the nature of conflict. His final duel with Kira resulted in the destruction of his mobile suit, the death of his partner Aisha, and the loss of his left arm, left eye, and a leg. After being rescued and given prosthetics, he became the captain of the warship Eternal and sided with the Clyne Faction to end the war. Following that conflict, he settled in the neutral nation of Orb, living in relative seclusion. When peace is shattered in Gundam Seed Destiny, his loyalty lies with his old comrades from the Three Ships Alliance, and he re-emerges as a key member of the anti-war organization Terminal to fight against extremist policies. His prosthetic left arm conceals a hidden firearm. Though his physical condition prevents him from operating at his former peak, he remains a capable mobile suit pilot, seen piloting a custom orange Murasame and later a captured Gaia Gundam.
