Description
Kuzzey Buskirk is a civilian student who lived in the neutral space colony Heliopolis, where he attended a technical university with his close friends Kira Yamato, Tolle Koenig, and Miriallia Haw. A Natural by birth, he initially held a mild but genuine prejudice against Coordinators, which colored his early distrust of Kira after learning about his genetic background. When Heliopolis came under attack, he escaped along with his classmates aboard the Earth Alliance assault ship Archangel and, despite his fears and reluctance, volunteered to help the ship’s crew. He was assigned to the bridge as a communications operator, a role that kept him away from direct combat but nonetheless placed him in the center of the war’s unfolding events.
Kuzzey was characterized by anxiety, a strong yearning for a normal life, and an open desire to return home to his parents. As battles mounted and the ship’s situation grew more desperate, his initial prejudice toward Coordinators simmered down somewhat, but his discomfort with the violence and his role in it only increased. He remained emotionally tethered to his fellow student volunteers, especially Tolle and Miriallia, whose presence offered him a sense of friendship and stability amid the chaos. Over time, the grim reality of the conflict wore on him, and when the opportunity arose, Kuzzey made the decision to leave the Archangel entirely, choosing to step away from the military and reclaim a civilian life. His departure marked a quiet but meaningful turning point, representing the ordinary person’s refusal to be consumed by a war they did not ask for. In terms of abilities, Kuzzey possessed basic technical knowledge from his education and competently served as a communications operator, but he was never a combatant and never piloted a mobile suit. He later makes a brief appearance having returned to a peaceful, non-military existence.
