Description
Madoka Wakamatsu, whose real name is Chisato Kurebayashi, is a singer and a notable rival of the idol Full Moon in the anime and manga Full Moon o Sagashite. She is a young female idol who debuted under a competing agency and initially crosses paths with Full Moon during an audition, where Full Moon is selected over her. This event sparks a competitive and sometimes antagonistic attitude in Madoka toward Full Moon, as she is driven by a desire to prove herself and be recognized in the music industry.

Her personality is defined by ambition and a certain brashness; she can be rude and dismissive toward her coworkers and other idols, including Full Moon. At the same time, she is sensitive and vulnerable, as seen when she becomes discouraged after being told her performances lack emotional depth. Despite her rivalry, Madoka forms an unexpected friendship with Mitsuki Kouyama, the twelve-year-old girl who transforms into Full Moon, and the two eventually develop a mutual respect. Madoka’s motivations are rooted in her own career aspirations and a need to validate her talent, but she also comes to care for Mitsuki and supports her when needed.

In the story, Madoka serves as a secondary antagonist in the early stages, creating obstacles and tensions for Full Moon, but later evolves into a friend and collaborator. A key incident involves Madoka learning that Full Moon intended to sing the song Eternal Snow, so she chooses to debut with the same song herself, hoping the producer would not allow Full Moon to also release it. In the end, both idols release their own versions of Eternal Snow—Madoka’s being the Diamond Dust Remix—and Madoka eventually performs that version at Full Moon’s final concert.

Her most important relationship is with Full Moon/Mitsuki, shifting from rivalry to friendship. In the manga, Madoka is engaged to and later marries a character named Nachi (Soichiro), who undergoes plastic surgery to become an idol in order to be with her. She does not possess any supernatural abilities; her notable talent is her singing voice, which she uses to build her career and compete in the industry.

Throughout the series, Madoka undergoes development from a jealous and competitive figure to a more supportive and understanding one, though she retains her assertive and driven nature. Her appearance in the anime features dark red hair, while in the manga her hair is straight purple, and her bangs are typically loose on her forehead.
