Description
Masami Oshige is a supporting character in the anime Looking for the Full Moon. She works as the assigned manager for the idol Full Moon, whose real name is Mitsuki Koyama. Before becoming a manager, Oshige had her own brief career as a singer under the stage name Yuina Hanakazari, though she never achieved commercial success. Her background in the music industry gives her practical insight into the demands of an idol’s life.

Personality-wise, Oshige is described as sweet and kindhearted, with a tendency to be somewhat clumsy. She is deeply supportive of Mitsuki and often goes out of her way to protect and encourage her. Despite her professional demeanor, she can become flustered easily, especially when her personal feelings come into play. She also has a fondness for drinking, which occasionally leads to lighthearted moments.

Oshige’s motivations are rooted in a genuine care for Mitsuki’s well-being and a desire to help her succeed. She is aware of the risks Mitsuki faces due to her illness and works alongside Dr. Keiichi Wakaouji to manage both the singer’s career and her health. Oshige herself carries a long-standing romantic attachment to Wakaouji, whom she has admired since his days as the singer Prince in the band Route L. In the anime, their relationship develops in the background, while in the original manga they become a couple more explicitly. In the interim, Oshige dates her boss, Mitsuru Kijyou, out of loneliness, but her feelings for Wakaouji remain.

Her role in the story is that of a supportive adult figure who bridges Mitsuki’s personal struggles with her public career. Oshige learns about Mitsuki’s secret identity as Full Moon and becomes aware of the existence of the shinigami, yet she continues to assist without judgment. She helps organize Mitsuki’s solo concert and encourages her to pursue surgery, showing her dedication even when the situation becomes dire. Oshige’s development involves moving away from her own insecurities and learning to open up to genuine emotional connections, particularly with Wakaouji.

As a former idol, Oshige has practical knowledge of the entertainment industry, but she does not possess any supernatural abilities. Her notable strength lies in her loyalty and her ability to manage the logistics of Mitsuki’s career while providing emotional stability. She serves as a maternal figure who protects Mitsuki from external pressures and quietly works behind the scenes to enable her dream.
