Description
Kongo is a character from the Naruto film Naruto the Movie: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom. He is a member of the Wandering Ninja Clan, a group of mercenary shinobi hired by the minister Shabadaba to assassinate King Kakeru Tsuki and his family in order to seize control of the Land of the Moon. Consistent with his brutish appearance, Kongo is violent, thuggish, and arrogant, deriving enjoyment from using his physical strength to overpower and dominate his opponents. He relies on brute force rather than strategy, but he becomes cowardly when he realizes he is outmatched. His primary motivation is the monetary reward for his service, and he follows the orders of Shabadaba and his clan leader Ishidate without question. In the story, Kongo serves as a supporting antagonist alongside his comrades Ishidate and Karenbana. He participates in attacks on the heroes, including a confrontation with Rock Lee and later with Naruto, and is eventually defeated by Sakura and Lee. His key relationships are within his clan, with Ishidate as his leader and Karenbana as a fellow member, and he is hostile toward the main characters, particularly Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, and Rock Lee. Kongo undergoes no significant development; he remains a straightforward brute throughout the film. His notable abilities center on his immense physical strength, which he uses for taijutsu, delivering powerful punches that can send opponents flying. He also works in tandem with his clan's use of a sense-distorting powder that disorients enemies, making them easier for him to strike. Despite his endurance and power, he is slow and lacks tactical subtlety, which leaves him vulnerable when his strength is neutralized.
