Description
Jinny Golding is a minor supporting character who appears in the final arc of Marmalade Boy. She is a young female teenager with blue eyes and waist-length blonde hair. She is a student at St. Andrews University in Scotland, where she is part of the social circle that includes Brian Grant, Doris, and Bill Matheson.

Jinny is portrayed as a flirtatious and forward-thinking young woman. When Matsuura Yuu arrives at St. Andrews, Jinny is immediately charmed by him and develops a strong romantic interest, falling for him at first sight. Her attraction to Yuu is direct and uninhibited, and she is not shy about expressing her feelings. This new infatuation complicates the existing dynamics within her friend group, particularly because Brian Grant, Michael Grant's older brother, has harbored a long-standing crush on Jinny. Jinny's immediate pursuit of Yuu creates jealousy in Brian, who resents Yuu as a result. Beyond her romantic inclinations, Jinny also demonstrates a playful and perhaps gossiping nature, as she jokingly warns Yuu to be careful of his roommate Bill, implying that Bill does not like women.

Her primary role in the story is to act as a catalyst for conflict and character interaction during Yuu's time in Scotland. Her romantic pursuit of Yuu is the direct cause of Brian Grant's animosity toward the protagonist. Key relationships for Jinny include her unrequited love for Yuu, her longstanding but unacknowledged admirer Brian Grant, and her friendships with Doris and Bill Matheson. The character does not undergo significant development during her brief appearance, serving instead as a minor obstacle and a representation of the social pressures Yuu faces while abroad. Her notable abilities are social in nature, specifically her capacity to quickly form attachments, assert her romantic intentions, and inadvertently disrupt the existing social order of her peer group.
