Description
Kohza is a native of the desert kingdom of Alabasta and grew up as a childhood friend of Princess Nefertari Vivi. In their youth, the two were close companions and together founded the Suna Suna Clan, also known as the Sand Sand Clan. As an adult, Kohza becomes the leader of the Alabasta Rebellion, driven by a deep and genuine love for his country, his family, and his friends. This fierce loyalty and sense of justice define his personality and fuel his motivations. He cannot stand to see the people of Alabasta suffer from drought, oppression, and what he believes is the neglect of their king.
In the story of the Alabasta conflict, Kohza is the central figure of the rebel army. Unbeknownst to him, his rebellion is masterfully manipulated by the Baroque Works crime syndicate and its leader, Sir Crocodile. Crocodile stages attacks on towns disguised as royal soldiers, fanning the flames of public outrage and pushing Kohza into leading a full-scale assault on the capital, Alubarna. Kohza embodies the righteous anger of the people, making him a compelling and tragic figure who fights for a just cause but against an illusionary enemy. His critical role shifts when he discovers the truth: Crocodile is holding the real King Cobra hostage. Upon this revelation, Kohza immediately halts the rebellion and joins forces with the royal army to expose the true villain.
Kohza’s most important relationship is with Princess Vivi. Their shared history binds them even as they find themselves on opposite sides of the battlefield. Vivi’s desperate attempts to stop the war and Kohza’s eventual realization that he was deceived highlight the strength of their bond and his profound respect for her. His relationship with the Straw Hat Pirates, especially Monkey D. Luffy, is one of alliance born from a common enemy. Throughout the arc, Kohza undergoes significant development, transforming from a hot-headed revolutionary who was willing to go to war with his own king into a mature leader who recognizes his mistakes and dedicates himself to the peaceful restoration of his country.
Kohza does not rely on supernatural Devil Fruit abilities or fantastical powers. His capabilities are those of a highly determined and physically fit human leader. He is a competent fighter, seen wielding a blade, but his most notable ability is his powerful charisma and the trust he commands from thousands of soldiers. His talent for rallying people and organizing a massive civilian army makes him a formidable force in the political and military landscape of Alabasta, representing the will of the common people fighting for their home.
