TV-Series
Description
Magwald Xargin serves as the primary antagonist of the series. In his university years, he was an enthusiastic and generous researcher who worked diligently to help immigrant populations, finding it unthinkable that humans would not assist their peers while actively opposing the racist views common in his country. He was the lover of a researcher named Sasha and a great supporter of her work, though he was unaware of its true military objectives, believing it to be a revolutionary medical discovery.
Xargin suffered extreme acts of intolerance that drove him from idealism to utter despair. These events included a fire at a church where he first met Joseph, as well as the death of Sasha, who was beaten to death by those who discriminated against foreigners and the poor. After these tragedies, a man named Victor Strachus bestowed upon Xargin the power of the Amalgams, a transformation that pushed him into complete madness.
Driven by a messianic complex, Xargin came to view humanity as a hopeless race incapable of anything but harm and destruction. He vowed to exterminate all of mankind, intending to replace the human population with what he considered the purer race of Amalgams. Despite his genocidal ideals, he maintains a very calm, polite, and religious demeanor, often reading the Bible or citing prayers. His physical appearance reflects his belief of being a savior; he is always barefoot and clothed in white, with almost feminine facial features.
Xargin shares a significant past with Joseph, a primary protagonist of the story. During the event that saw him become the enemy of mankind, Xargin wounded Joseph and granted him his blood, thereby turning Joseph into an Amalgam and his fiercest foe. Later, Xargin stumbled upon a character named Beatrice and her dead horse; he resurrected them both, taking them in as his right arm and his mare, respectively. Throughout the series, Xargin rarely appears personally, but on the occasions he does, he demonstrates overwhelming power, easily defeating other characters like Malek and Joseph. He takes part in the assault of the Zwölf headquarters, where he ultimately kills Victor Strachus.
In terms of abilities, Xargin stands as the most powerful Amalgam in the entire series, capable of defeating formidable opponents without even assuming his full Demoniac form. As a Demoniac, he transforms into a towering, armored humanoid reminiscent of a king or warlord, featuring spiraling horns protruding from his head and four tentacles on his back. He fights with an oversized greatsword that he wields easily with one hand. Before his final battle with Joseph, no one ever succeeded in wounding him, as he proved impervious to even the most powerful weaponry of the Paladins. His powers are unique, demonstrating pyrokinesis, the ability to shoot powerful energy blasts, and the remarkable capacity to heal or even revive living beings. In his final confrontation, after killing Joseph, Xargin is showered with Isis nanomachines which reduce him and his entire army of Amalgams to ash, an outcome he surprisingly accepts as the will of God.
