Description
Kojirou Hyuuga is a Japanese football player known as the Fierce Tiger, a title that reflects his aggressive playing style and tenacity. He comes from a financially struggling family and started playing football with the clear goal of becoming a professional striker to support them. His background drives an intense determination to succeed, and he approaches every match with a fierce competitiveness that can come across as rough or intimidating. Despite his tough exterior, Hyuuga is fundamentally a caring person who values his family and friends deeply. He can be impulsive at times, but his devotion to football and his relentless pursuit of victory are unwavering.

In the film Captain Tsubasa: Sekai Daikessen!! Jr. World Cup, Hyuuga serves as a key striker for the All Japan junior team. He plays an essential role in the team’s matches, using his powerful shooting skills to break through opposing defenses. His signature Tiger Shot is a devastatingly strong strike that can overpower most goalkeepers, and he also commands the Raiju Shoot, a technique that combines raw power with speed. His dribbling ability, the Chokusenteki Dribble, allows him to charge past defenders directly. Physically he is one of the strongest players on the field, and his stamina enables him to keep up his intensity throughout a game.

Hyuuga’s place in the story is defined largely by his rivalry with Tsubasa Ozora, a relationship that pushes him to constantly improve. He also shares a competitive dynamic with goalkeeper Genzo Wakabayashi. Over time, he develops a mentorship role with the younger Takeshi Sawada and forms a reliable partnership with Ken Wakashimazu, the team’s goalkeeper. Initially known for a lone-wolf mentality, Hyuuga shows notable development during the Jr. World Cup as he learns to trust his teammates and work together as a cohesive unit. This growth is crucial when the team faces a seemingly invincible opponent, where his brute force alone is not enough. By the end of the film, he has matured into a more cooperative and self-aware athlete, while still retaining the fiery spirit that makes him one of Japan’s most formidable forwards.
