Description
Gin Nanami is the older brother of Ao Nanami and a childhood friend of both Hime Yarizakura and Akina Hiizumi. He is a Satori, a type of supernatural being or demon whose primary ability is mind-reading. Physically, Gin is described as a tall young man with a slim build, chin-length silver hair featuring two antenna-like tufts resembling cat ears, and gray eyes. He is seventeen years old and stands 179 centimeters tall.
Before his possession, Gin was known to be a kind, courageous, and good-natured individual. He possessed wisdom from a young age and actively sought to improve the lives of others, hoping to be part of something larger than himself and willing to make personal sacrifices for the good of the townspeople. He valued harmony, wishing for his friends to resolve their misunderstandings, and enjoyed simple pleasures like cheesecake, which he had a particular habit of cutting in a unique way. His relationship with his younger sister Ao was very close and positive, built on mutual respect and support.
Gin's role in the story is defined by a tragic event. His body was taken over by Enjin Hiizumi, the main antagonist of the series. Enjin is a member of the branch family of the Hiizumi household who returned as a non-physical entity and used his abilities to force Gin’s spirit out of his body, making it his own vessel. While Enjin claims to have completely expelled Gin's soul, the story provides hints that Gin's consciousness still lingers within. Enjin realizes he cannot use his full powers because Gin's soul is still present, and he also unconsciously adopts some of Gin's mannerisms. This lingering presence creates a significant moral conflict for Akina, who is unwilling to use his "tuning" ability to defeat Enjin if it means destroying Gin's soul as well.
