Description
Kyousuke Kawachi is a baker from Osaka who works alongside Kazuma Azuma at the Pantasia Southern Tokyo branch. He comes from the Kansai region and initially possesses more practical knowledge of bread-making than Azuma, but as the story progresses, he increasingly serves as comic relief and the butt of jokes, often reacting with his signature exclamation of "What was that?!" and other exaggerated outbursts. Despite this shift, Kawachi remains a skilled and knowledgeable baker in his own right, capable of producing delicious creations.

His primary motivation is to fulfill his dream of working at the main Pantasia store in Tokyo. He recognizes that Azuma is the more naturally talented baker, but this does not discourage him; instead, it fuels a friendly rivalry between the two. Kawachi is determined and competitive, as shown by his participation in the Pantasia Newcomer's Battle, where he advances to the final round against Azuma.

Kawachi's background includes working at his family's bakery before it went bankrupt. After that, he became a delivery driver for Pantasia, where he met Azuma and eventually became his coworker and close friend. Their relationship is marked by mutual respect and a brotherly bond, with Kawachi acting as Azuma's sidekick and occasional foil. He is also known for his passionate, unruly personality, which earns him the nickname "Wild Type." His enthusiasm for baking is infectious, and he often comes up with innovative ideas.

Over the course of the story, Kawachi grows alongside Azuma. He takes part in significant events such as the Monaco Cup international bread competition, representing Japan. While he may not match Azuma's innate talent, his dedication, knowledge, and creativity make him a valuable member of the team and a memorable character. His distinctive Kansai dialect and wild reactions provide much of the series' humor, but beneath the comedy lies a genuine love for bread and a steadfast desire to improve.
