Description
Elizabeth Thompson, known as Liz, is a demon weapon and the older sister of Patricia Thompson. She and her sister were raised on the streets of New York, where they used their abilities as weapons to commit crimes and survive, earning Liz the nickname the Devil of Brooklyn. Their lives changed when they encountered Death the Kid, who recognized their potential and asked them to become his weapon partners. This meeting led them to enroll at the Death Weapon Meister Academy and join the EAT class.
Liz is the more mature and sensible member of her trio, often serving as the straight man who reins in the eccentricities of both her younger sister Patty and their meister Death the Kid. She is pragmatic, level-headed, and frequently exasperated by Kid's obsessive perfectionism and Patty's childish behavior. Despite her often cynical and complaining demeanor, she is deeply protective of Patty and holds a strong, unspoken loyalty to her team. She has a fear of ghosts and is self-conscious about her smaller bust size compared to her sister. She enjoys typical teenage interests such as shopping and worrying about her appearance.
Her core motivation is to protect her sister and find a better life than the one they had on the streets. She respects Kid's strength and dignified soul, which is why she agreed to partner with him, but she is often annoyed by the drama caused by his quirks. Her role in the story is as one of Death the Kid's two demon twin gun weapons, forming one of the three main meister-weapon teams at the DWMA. Along with Kid and Patty, she collects evil human souls to prevent them from becoming kishin.
Liz's most important relationship is with her sister Patty. They share a deep bond formed through their difficult upbringing and rely on each other in battle. Liz acts as a protector and voice of reason for Patty. Her relationship with Death the Kid is built on mutual respect, though she frequently has to talk him down from obsessive fits or remind him of his responsibilities as a shinigami. She also appears in the spin-off Soul Eater Not! as a supporting character, working as a waitress alongside Patty.
Liz develops from a thuggish street survivor into a loyal and reliable member of the DWMA. She learns to value teamwork and commitment beyond her own survival, gaining a sense of purpose as part of Kid's team. She is eventually acknowledged as a two-star weapon and becomes a member of the elite group Spartoi.
As a demon weapon, Liz can transform into a semi-automatic pistol. Together with Patty, she forms one half of the Double Team Demon Guns, a pair of pistols wielded by Death the Kid. They collect souls in the magazines of their gun forms. Their primary ability is to compress their meister's soul wavelength and fire it as powerful soul bullets. Even without Kid, Liz can wield Patty in her weapon form and vice versa. Through Soul Resonance with Kid, they can unleash powerful combined attacks, such as transforming into a larger cannon-like form.
