Description
C.C., pronounced C-Two, is a central figure in the story, known as the immortal witch who grants the power of Geass to Lelouch Lamperouge. Her true name is never revealed, and her past is shrouded in centuries of mystery. She possesses an immortal body, unable to die from any wound or the passage of time, identifiable by the Geass symbol, or Code, marked on her forehead. Her physical appearance is that of a young woman with long, pale green hair and golden eyes, standing 168 centimeters tall, though her actual age is estimated to be over 500 years old.

The background of C.C. is a tragic one, revealed slowly through the narrative. Centuries before the main events, she was a slave girl who was granted the power of Geass by a nun in a contract. Her specific Geass ability was to be loved by others. After using her power for years, she eventually inherited the Code from the nun, granting her immortality and the ability to bestow Geass on others, but at the cost of losing her own Geass power. This contract came with a curse: the only way for a Code bearer to die is for their Geass contractor to fully master their power and kill them, a truth the nun concealed. This left C.C. as an immortal being, wandering through history, watching countless people die.

In terms of personality, C.C. often presents herself as apathetic, lazy, and cynical, with a particular fondness for Pizza Hut pizza, which becomes a running motif. She frequently speaks in a bored or mocking tone, calling Lelouch by his given name and acting as an unflappable observer to his often dramatic plans. However, this aloof exterior masks a profound loneliness, guilt, and a deep-seated weariness with life. She has lived for centuries and witnessed the worst of humanity, leading her to regard herself as a witch and to despise her own immortality. This inner pain reveals a surprisingly caring and compassionate side, which she typically keeps hidden. She genuinely cares for those she makes contracts with, such as Mao and Lelouch, and feels immense guilt over the suffering her gift ultimately brings them.

C.C.'s primary motivation for most of the story is a death wish. She desires to end her eternal existence, seeing death as the only true release from her endless cycle of pain and loneliness. She forms the contract with Lelouch not just for his sake, but in the hope that his powerful ambition will eventually lead to her destruction. This wish is her driving force, coloring all her actions and her initial detachment from the world around her.

Her role in the story is multifaceted. She is the catalyst for the entire plot, granting Lelouch the power of Geass that allows him to become the masked revolutionary Zero. Beyond this, she acts as his primary accomplice, confidante, and often his strategic advisor. She is one of the few people who knows his true identity and his ultimate goal. She pilots the large Knightmare Frame, Gawain, alongside him, and later uses her own pink Akatsuki unit in battle. She also acts as a negotiator for the Black Knights, using her centuries of experience to handle delicate political situations, such as her negotiations with the Chinese Federation.

The key relationship in C.C.'s life is with Lelouch. Initially, their bond is purely contractual; she is an immortal witch, and he is a mortal prince seeking vengeance. However, over time, they develop a deep and complex partnership, often referring to each other as accomplices. She is the one person who is never truly fooled by Lelouch's masks and understands his pain. She is his confidante and, in a sense, his protector. Lelouch, in turn, is the first person in centuries who treats her as an equal and refuses to pity her or simply use her for her power. He ultimately rejects her wish for death, instead granting her a reason to live by accepting her past and her existence. Her past relationship with Lelouch's mother, Marianne vi Britannia, is also significant. They were once allies in a grand plan orchestrated by Emperor Charles, revealing that C.C. has had a connection to Lelouch's family for years prior to the story's start.

Throughout the second season, C.C. undergoes significant internal development. At the story's climax inside the World of C, she decides to betray Emperor Charles and his plan for the Ragnarök Connection after hearing Lelouch's words. She realizes her true wish is not simply for death, but for genuine, unconditional love. In a moment of deep despair, she seals away her own Code, reverting to the powerless, amnesiac slave girl she was centuries ago. This act literally regresses her character to a blank slate. Later, her memories are restored by the spirit of Marianne. This event does not simply return her to her former self; it represents a choice. She reclaims her identity as C.C. not out of resignation, but with a new understanding of herself. She accepts her past and her immortality, finally choosing to live for herself rather than simply waiting to die.

C.C. possesses several notable abilities due to her nature as a Code bearer. Her primary ability is complete immortality, granting her perfect regeneration from any physical injury, including gunshots and explosions. As a former contractor, she can bestow the power of Geass upon others, forming a contract with them. She is also completely immune to the effects of any Geass, including Lelouch's power of absolute obedience and the Emperor's ability to rewrite memories. She has a unique connection to the collective unconsciousness of humanity, referred to as the World of C, and can use this connection to share or view memories through physical contact, a power she uses to help Lelouch regain his lost memories.
