Description
Yoshitaka Minami is a supporting character in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. He is a bespectacled man with purple hair and was originally a member of Naoto Kozuki’s resistance group, which later became part of the Black Knights. As one of the organization’s longest-standing members, he served as the commander of the First Secret Corps and, after the group’s restructuring, was appointed captain of the flagship Ikaruga within the United Federation of Nations Army.
Minami is a practical and duty-driven individual, often displaying a calm and serious demeanor. He values loyalty and discipline, but his trust in Zero was shaken after the Black Rebellion, when he felt Zero had abandoned Kaname Ohgi and the other captured members. This lingering distrust influenced his later interactions with Lelouch vi Britannia. Despite this, he remained committed to the Black Knights’ cause and to his comrades.
His role in the story focuses on operational command and support. He participates in key battles such as the Second Assault on Tokyo Settlement and the final conflict against the Britannian Empire. He was present when Nunnally vi Britannia was sworn in as Viceroy of Area 11, a moment that visibly moved him. Minami also joined the other core Black Knights members in turning against Zero after Lelouch’s identity was revealed.
Following the war, Minami was one of the few characters who escaped capture when Schneizel el Britannia seized control. He later helped free imprisoned United Federation of Nations members after Lelouch’s assassination. In the post-series film Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, he is seen serving as a bodyguard for Kaguya Sumeragi, Nunnally, Jiang Lihua, and Margaret Walpole.
