Description
Killer Bee, known as Kirābī in Japanese, is a shinobi from Kumogakure, the Hidden Cloud Village, who serves as the jinchuriki of the Eight-Tails, a powerful beast named Gyuki that resembles a cross between an octopus and a bull. He is the adoptive younger brother of A, the Fourth Raikage, and holds the position of the village's guardian. Bee is a tall man with a muscular build, dark skin, light blond hair, and a goatee. He is distinguished by a tattoo of the kanji for "iron" on his right shoulder and horn-shaped tattoos on his left cheek, which signify his status as the Eight-Tails' host. In battle, he famously carries up to seven swords, holding them with an unorthodox style that utilizes his armpits, elbows, mouth, and other body parts.
Bee's personality is as distinctive as his appearance, marked by an overwhelming confidence in his own power and a boisterous, energetic demeanor. His most notable quirk is his method of communication, as he habitually speaks and even fights in rhyme, expressing himself through a self-styled form of rap. He is so devoted to his craft that he will stop in the middle of a battle to write down his lyrics, often oblivious to the irritation this causes those around him. Despite his odd behavior, Bee is highly perceptive, kind, and compassionate. Unlike many jinchuriki who are portrayed as cynical due to a lifetime of isolation, Bee cares deeply for his friends and is willing to put himself at great risk to protect them. He maintains a remarkably friendly and cooperative relationship with Gyuki, the Eight-Tails, frequently engaging in casual conversation with the beast and considering it a true partner rather than a monster to be controlled. This bond is so strong that Gyuki willingly helps Bee by disrupting his chakra to break free from genjutsu. Bee is also known to be lazy, often seeking excuses to leave his duties for a vacation, a trait his brother the Raikage is well aware of and frequently exasperated by.
Bee's journey to becoming the perfect jinchuriki was not without hardship. As a child, he was close friends with a boy named Motoi. When the previous jinchuriki of the Eight-Tails lost control and killed Motoi's father, Bee was chosen as the beast's new host. He subsequently suffered the same prejudice and shunning from the villagers that other jinchuriki like Naruto Uzumaki experienced. However, he refused to complain, remaining cheerful and determined to master his beast for the sake of his brother, the Raikage, so as not to cause him political trouble. He eventually trained on a secluded island in the Land of Lightning, where he discovered the Falls of Truth and learned to befriend and control Gyuki in an extraordinarily short period of time, becoming the first jinchuriki in the series to achieve perfect cooperation with his tailed beast.
In the story, Bee plays a crucial role as a mentor and a key ally. His first major confrontation is against Sasuke Uchiha and his team, Taka, who are sent by Akatsuki to capture him. Bee effortlessly overpowers the entire team, using his unique seven-sword style to mortally wound Sasuke and forcing him to use his most powerful techniques. Ultimately, Bee escapes capture by using a severed tentacle of Gyuki as a decoy, a trick that allows him to fake his own capture and go on a vacation, much to the later annoyance of his brother. He later fights the Akatsuki member Kisame Hoshigaki, a battle that ends with Kisame's sentient sword, Samehada, betraying its master in favor of Bee's incredibly potent and delicious chakra.
Bee's most significant role comes when he is tasked with teaching Naruto Uzumaki how to control the Nine-Tails. The two are sent to a secret island to train, where Bee becomes a mentor to Naruto. Through his guidance and example, Naruto learns to confront his own inner darkness and ultimately meets his mother, Kushina, who helps him gain control over the Nine-Tails. Bee's success as a perfect jinchuriki serves as a direct template for Naruto's own journey. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Bee fights alongside Naruto as a primary combatant against the reanimated jinchuriki and the Ten-Tails, becoming a foundational member of the Allied Shinobi Forces.
Bee's abilities are immense, cementing his status as one of the most powerful shinobi in the world. As the perfect jinchuriki of the Eight-Tails, he has complete access to its chakra, allowing him to use a chakra cloak (Version 1), a full-body transformation (Version 2), and the complete Tailed Beast Mode, in which he becomes Gyuki itself while retaining full consciousness and control. In this form, he can fire devastating Tailed Beast Balls and use his tentacles to create powerful tornadoes. As a master of kenjutsu, his signature technique is "Acrobat," a dance-like fighting style where he uses his seven swords to attack from unpredictable angles, overwhelming even opponents with the Sharingan. He is also highly proficient in Lightning Release, which he can channel through his blades to increase their cutting power or even charge small objects like pencils to pierce through solid rock. Bee possesses tremendous physical strength and durability, capable of wrestling a giant bear and surviving powerful direct attacks from S-rank ninja. As a result of his partnership with Gyuki, he can also produce a special ink from his mouth, which he uses for writing, blinding opponents, or creating ink clones.
