Description
Pegasus is the dream form of Helios, the high priest of Elysion, a hidden golden kingdom connected to the Earth and to Prince Endymion. In the anime Sailor Moon SuperS, Pegasus and Helios are the same character. While his true body was imprisoned, Helios's spirit escaped in the form of a small winged white horse with a golden horn, and that horn is the Golden Crystal of Dreams, a powerful treasure sought by Queen Nehellenia. Because he could not survive on Earth in his weakened state, Pegasus took refuge inside the beautiful dream of Chibiusa, the young heir to the Moon Kingdom. Her wish to become an elegant and mature woman like her mother was strong enough to shelter him.

In personality, Pegasus is gentle, calm, and kind, with a quiet and slightly formal manner befitting his role as a priest and guardian. He is patient with Chibiusa and offers her comfort, encouragement, and advice, especially about friendship, love, and believing in herself. He is also secretive at first, hiding his true identity and refusing to answer many of her questions because revealing too much could endanger them both. Despite this restraint, he shows genuine warmth and becomes deeply attached to her.

His central motivations are to protect the Golden Crystal from Queen Nehellenia and the Dead Moon Circus, to recover his imprisoned body, and to restore Elysion, which had been ravaged by Nehellenia's forces. To do this, he needed to find a pure heart and a beautiful dream, and he found both in Chibiusa.

In the story, Pegasus acts as a hidden guardian and ally to the Sailor Guardians. Only Chibiusa could see and hear him at first, and he gradually revealed his identity to her before doing the same for the other Sailor Guardians. He provides the means for Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon to reach their Super forms, granting them new brooches and equipment, including the Crystal Carillon, which allows Chibi Moon to summon him. Through that link he lends his power to Sailor Moon, enabling her to perform Moon Gorgeous Meditation, the attack capable of defeating the Lemures and the Dead Moon Circus. In the anime, the Golden Crystal was depicted as holding enough power to destroy entire planets and was the only effective weapon against Nehellenia.

His key relationship is with Chibiusa. They meet in her dreams, where he takes her flying and becomes her companion and confidant. Their bond deepens over the course of the series into a romantic one; he is her first kiss and struggles to conceal his feelings for her, while she trusts him completely. He also shares a spiritual connection with Mamoru, since Elysion is the kingdom of Prince Endymion, and when Elysion came under attack, Mamoru fell gravely ill.

Pegasus develops from a mysterious and guarded figure into an open and devoted one. When Chibiusa was captured by Nehellenia and placed under an eternal sleep, his distress revealed the depth of his attachment to her. In the climax, the beautiful dreams of the people of Earth were combined with the Golden Crystal, allowing the Sailor Guardians to seal Nehellenia and break the curse. Freed at last, Helios returned to Elysion with the Golden Crystal, and his farewell to Chibiusa carried a strong implication that they would meet again, with a future life together awaiting them.

His notable abilities include telepathic communication, the power to appear in and travel through dreams, flight, the capacity to grant power and equipment to others, and, once restored, the ability to assume his human priest form. His greatest strength, however, comes from his role as bearer of the Golden Crystal of Dreams, from which his power and his connection to the dreams of humanity are drawn.
