Description
In the anime Sailor Moon SuperS, the character known as Pegasus is revealed to be the true form of a young man named Hélios. His story begins in Elysion, a sacred, hidden realm deep within the Earth where he serves as the high priest. His primary duty is to act as the guardian of the Golden Crystal, a powerful artifact connected to the hopes and dreams of humanity. When the malevolent Queen Nehellenia and her Dead Moon Circus attacked Elysion, Hélios was captured. To escape and protect the Golden Crystal, he projected his spirit out of his physical body, which remained a prisoner of the queen. In this spiritual form, he transformed into Pegasus, a winged white horse, and sought refuge within a pure and beautiful dream to hide from his enemies.

As Pegasus, Hélios takes up residence within the dreams of Chibiusa, also known as Sailor Chibi Moon, recognizing her as a person with a kind and untainted heart. His personality is defined by a gentle, kind, and courteous demeanor, though he is also burdened by a sense of mystery and the weight of his secret mission. He is deeply sincere, dedicated to his duty of protecting dreams, and is willing to risk his own safety to help those he comes to care about. From within Chibiusa's dreams, he plays a pivotal role in guiding the Sailor Guardians. He provides the essential tools they need to combat the Dead Moon Circus, granting Sailor Moon the Kaleidomoon Scope and Chibiusa the Crystal Carillon. When Chibiusa rings her bell, she performs the “Twinkle Yell” to summon Pegasus, who then uses the power of the Golden Crystal on his forehead to empower Sailor Moon's attack, Moon Gorgeous Meditation, allowing her to destroy the Lemures, which are the monsters of the Dead Moon Circus.

The bond between Hélios and Chibiusa is the emotional core of his role in the story. He begins as a secretive and mysterious friend but grows much closer to her as the series progresses and trust is built. He eventually reveals his human form to her, and their relationship deepens into a romantic connection, which is affirmed by a kiss shared between them. Throughout the arc, Hélios is motivated by a dual purpose: to protect his precious Golden Crystal from falling into Nehellenia’s hands and to find the one person who can unlock its full power, a task he comes to believe is Chibiusa’s destiny. His development is marked by his transition from a hidden, passive guardian to an active partner and supporter of the Sailor Guardians, culminating in his physical liberation at the end of the arc.

In his various forms, Hélios possesses several notable abilities. As Pegasus, he can fly and phase between the real world and the dream realm. The golden horn on his forehead is the Golden Crystal itself, a source of immense power that he wields to enhance the Sailor Guardians' attacks. In his true human form, he is still connected to the Earth and Elysion, enabling him to sense danger and transport people between worlds. His primary strength, however, lies not in direct combat but in his supportive magic and his unyielding will to protect the dreams of others at all costs.
