Description
In the anime Sailor Moon SuperS, Pegasus and Helios are the same character, with Pegasus being the spirit form Helios takes after his physical body is captured. Helios is the high priest of Elysion, a hidden sacred realm beneath the Earth, and he serves as the guardian of the Golden Crystal, a powerful Star Seed of dreams that appears as the golden horn on Pegasus's forehead. His duty is to protect the dreams of all living things and to safeguard the Golden Crystal, which is closely tied to the future of Earth.
Long before the events of the season, Queen Nehelenia of the Dead Moon attacked Elysion because she desired the Golden Crystal. When Helios refused to surrender it, she imprisoned his body and trapped him in a mirror. Unable to free himself, Helios released his spirit from his physical form and took the shape of Pegasus, a white winged horse with a flowing mane and tail and a glowing golden horn. In this form, he traveled through the world of dreams searching for a person with a pure heart who could shelter him and eventually help release him from his captivity. He found that person in Chibiusa, the young future daughter of Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask, whose beautiful dreams became his refuge.
