TV-Series
Description
Aya Fujisaki is a student who attends Sainan High School and is one year senior to the protagonist, Rito Yuuki. Her birthday is March 20, and she is 157 centimeters tall. She has long, straight, dark blue or indigo hair and purple or deep blue-violet eyes, which are almost always hidden behind the large round lenses of her glasses. Due to her severe nearsightedness, she rarely removes her glasses, but when she does, she is considered to be remarkably beautiful. Her three measurements are 81-54-81 centimeters.

Her background is defined by a childhood marked by bullying, from which she was rescued by Saki Tenjouin and Rin Kujou. This pivotal event forged an unbreakable bond of loyalty and admiration in Aya, who has since dedicated herself entirely to Saki, whom she reveres as Saki-sama.

Aya's personality is generally quiet, reserved, and soft-spoken, to the point of sometimes appearing emotionless or almost mechanical. She speaks very little and maintains a formal and polite manner. However, this placid exterior changes dramatically when the subject involves Saki, as she becomes visibly expressive, passionate, and intensely loyal. While she is weak-willed and not particularly remarkable on her own, she possesses a gentle and caring nature. Aya dislikes violence, sports, and being alone, and instead greatly enjoys reading, sewing, playing the piano, and calligraphy. Unlike many other female characters in the series, she does not develop romantic feelings for Rito Yuuki and instead holds a strong distaste for his perverted accidents, especially when they involve Saki or Rin.

Her primary motivation and entire role in the story revolve around her unwavering devotion to Saki Tenjouin. Aya serves as one of Saki's two constant companions and loyal friends, acting essentially as an extra to their group and rarely appearing without Saki and Rin. She supports Saki in all her endeavors, interprets her wishes, and glorifies her idol. This dedication is a personal choice, born from gratitude rather than any family obligation, which distinguishes her from Rin, whose family has served the Tenjouin household for generations. Her presence in the narrative serves to highlight a kinder, more protective side to the otherwise arrogant Saki, who cares for Aya deeply and once refused to study abroad if it meant leaving her friends behind.

The most significant relationship in Aya's life is with Saki Tenjouin, whom she idolizes and looks up to above all else. She and Rin Kujou share a close friendship as Saki's two followers, having first met when Saki and Rin protected her from bullies as children. However, their interactions are almost always in the context of Saki, and they are not often seen having direct conversations with each other that do not concern her. Her relationship with Rito Yuuki is initially one of annoyance and disapproval due to his frequent perverted accidents, which she hates. Her view of him evolves over the course of To Love-Ru Darkness. After witnessing Rin develop romantic feelings for Rito, Aya sets aside her earlier skepticism and begins to see him in a more positive light, ultimately deciding to support her friend's budding affection.

In terms of character development, Aya remains a steadfast and loyal follower for much of the series. The most notable change occurs in the Darkness arc, where her focus shifts from simply serving Saki to actively supporting Rin's romantic interest in Rito, demonstrating a capacity for empathy and a desire to help her friend's happiness. This evolution also requires her to revise her own negative perception of Rito.

While Aya is not physically gifted and is notably poor at sports and other activities requiring athleticism, she possesses several other notable abilities. She excels in cultural arts, particularly playing the piano, calligraphy, reading, and sewing. Despite her lack of physical prowess, she is driven to overcome her weaknesses for Saki's sake. In a more unusual display of skill, seen primarily in the anime adaptation, she is capable of driving and operating heavy machinery, such as a crane. She is also noted to be capable of piloting a helicopter and performing complex binding techniques.
