Description
Akira Minami is a supporting character who appears as a member of the other Minami family, which is distinct from the main trio of sisters. He is the third and youngest brother in his family, with two older brothers, and is in his first year of junior high school, placing him around twelve to thirteen years old. His name follows a seasonal naming pattern common to his family, as Aki translates to fall. Within his own household, the age gap between him and his elder brothers means he is often treated like a child and is told not to interrupt when the older siblings are speaking.

Akira has a distinct appearance characterized by blue-black, spiky hair and blue eyes, traits he shares with his siblings. In the third season of the anime, which includes Minami-ke Okaeri, his hair color is rendered as somewhat more blue compared to earlier seasons, aligning it more closely with the hair color of his sister, Touma. He is relatively short in stature, especially when compared to another male character his age, Fujioka.

Personality-wise, Akira is depicted as a young teenager with a strong and openly stated interest in romance. He is constantly in search of a girlfriend and has a noted preference for girls with long hair. This preoccupation with dating is a central aspect of his character and motivation, often guiding his actions and interactions. He is not as mature or world-weary as his older brothers, and his youth and relative inexperience show in his schemes and misunderstandings.

His most significant relationship in the story is with Fujioka, a classmate and friend of the main Minami sisters. Fujioka harbors a deep, if often unspoken, romantic interest in Kana Minami, the middle sister. Fujioka perceives Akira as a potential threat to his plans regarding Kana, a suspicion that Akira does little to dispel. In a series of convoluted misunderstandings, Akira mistakenly believes Fujioka's jealousy is related to another girl named Riko and, in an attempt to deflect Fujioka's hostility, deliberately expresses interest in Kana. This only serves to heighten the tension and Fujioka's animosity towards him. Akira is also notably afraid of Fujioka, a fear so pronounced that he resorts to cross-dressing as a character named Aki-chan to avoid being seen or confronted by Fujioka while visiting the main Minami household.

Within his own family, Akira shares a somewhat distant and confused relationship with his sister, Touma. Like his brothers, he does not understand her very well, and his contributions to family discussions about her often involve idle speculation, such as wondering if she has a boyfriend or focusing on his own desire to get a girlfriend. His role in the overall narrative is largely comedic, serving as a source of romantic rivalry and misunderstanding that complicates Fujioka's life.

In terms of character development, Akira remains fairly consistent, with his defining traits being his romantic yearning and his comedic fear of Fujioka. His primary notable ability is not a physical or special skill but his talent for creating and becoming entangled in misunderstandings, particularly regarding romantic intentions, which drives many of the humorous situations he is part of. He also demonstrates a resourceful, if somewhat desperate, ability to use cross-dressing as a disguise to evade Fujioka, which becomes a recurring gag.
