Description
Jyushimatsu Matsuno is the fifth-born of the Matsuno sextuplets. His name derives from the Japanese term for the Bengalese finch, substituting kanji characters for "fourteen" and "pine tree."

In childhood depictions like *Osomatsu-kun*, Jyushimatsu visually mirrored his brothers with a bowl haircut, black irises, and blue outfits featuring yellow buttons. Accounts of his early personality varied: some materials described him as quiet and gentle, while others showed him as loud and talkative, fond of singing. He typically appeared kind-hearted, obedient, and easily distressed, though he joined in mischief. A recurring motif highlighted his insecurity over lacking distinctiveness among his siblings.

As an adult in *Osomatsu-san*, Jyushimatsu's appearance grew unmistakable: a yellow hoodie with sleeves covering his hands, blue swim shorts, white socks, a perpetual wide-mouthed grin, a single cowlick, and starry-eyed expressions. His personality crystallized as the most eccentric and childlike brother. He exhibited explosive, unpredictable energy, performing reality-bending acts like spontaneous multiplication or exaggerated muscle growth. Rarely serious, he chanted phrases such as "Hustle hustle! Muscle muscle!" or "6-4-3 get you!", reflecting his baseball obsession.

Despite a generally cheerful and amicable demeanor, Jyushimatsu displayed volatile emotional shifts, flipping from joy to dangerous anger when provoked by cold weather or perceived slights. His unconventional behavior hindered social integration, prompting even his brothers to initially suspect hidden darkness. They later accepted his quirks simply as "Jyushimatsu being Jyushimatsu."

Key relationships include a close bond with fourth brother Ichimatsu, frequently paired in childhood adventures. A significant romantic subplot involved Jyushimatsu meeting a girl (often called "Homura" or "Homerun-chan") contemplating suicide. After saving her, they bonded over shared eccentricities. Their deep connection ended when she rejected his proposal (or dating request) and departed by train, leaving Jyushimatsu visibly heartbroken—a rare vulnerable moment for any brother.

Developmental backstory reveals Jyushimatsu smiled constantly as a newborn while his siblings slept. *Osomatsu-san* movie flashbacks show him as a teenager adopting a delinquent persona—narrow-eyed, bitter-faced, and attempting crudeness—though this masked his innate happiness. This phase solidified post-high school into his adult personality. Notable episodes further explore his quirks, like waiting to be captured by Santa Claus or reality-warping antics during a dedicated "festival" event.
