TV-Series
Description
Ashley Lynx is a central figure in the world of Solty Rei, serving as a high-ranking and influential leader within the R.U.C., the governing body of the city. His position grants him significant authority, which he uses to manipulate events and individuals to serve his own ends. Described as charming on the surface, he presents a facade of charisma that belies his true nature as a cunning, cold, and twisted individual. His actions are those of a primary antagonist, as he ruthlessly eliminates anyone who obstructs his plans, which include annihilating his own police force to replace them with his own projects.

The character's background reveals he is one of the few surviving first-generation immigrants to the planet, having arrived on the original colonist ship. This makes him over two hundred years old, having lived since the planet's initial colonization. Originally named Locke, he once supervised the construction of the underground city. His longevity and current state are due to advanced Resemble technology, which replaced much of his original body. After severe injuries from two separate accidents, including the catastrophic Blast Fall twelve years before the story begins, he was repaired and rebuilt by the super-computer Eunomia. This process left him as more machine than man, with the left side of his face, his left arm, and much of his torso being cybernetic, contributing to his detached and manipulative personality.

Despite his villainous actions, Ashley Lynx is driven by deep, personal motivations rooted in his past. His ultimate goal is tied to the woman he loved, Illumina Kisch, a human who stayed behind on the colony ship with others. His centuries of pain and loss fuel his complex scheme to gain control of the city's energy and water sources, a plan that threatens all of humanity. He is often described as "affably evil" and a case of "love makes you crazy," as his romantic tragedy has warped him into a psychopath willing to bring about an apocalypse.

Throughout the story, Ashley Lynx plays a pivotal role as the primary instigator of conflict. He is directly responsible for the reappearance of Rose Anderson, the thought-dead daughter of the protagonist Roy Revant, and molds her into a powerful being called a Proceed to serve as his tool. His key relationships are often exploitative; he has little regard for his subordinates and holds ulterior motives even for those who work for him. His manipulation of Rose drives much of the narrative's tension, forcing other characters to become fugitives and confront the dark secrets of their world.

Ashley Lynx undergoes a significant development in the final stages of the series, culminating in his demise. After losing control of Eunomia, the very force that repaired him, he is killed by her. However, before his death, he experiences a moment of resolution. Solty, who has been revealed to be connected to his past, conveys to him the final words of his beloved Illumina, which she had stored within herself. Hearing this message allows him to finally find peace and pass on calmly, concluding his centuries-long journey of grief and obsession.

As a testament to his cybernetic nature, Ashley Lynx possesses notable abilities derived from his Resemble technology. His extensive body modifications grant him superhuman durability and resilience, having survived catastrophic events that would have killed an ordinary human. He is also highly skilled in strategic manipulation and psychological warfare, using his charm and authority to orchestrate complex plans from the shadows. His direct confrontation with Solty leaves her in a catatonic state, demonstrating his capacity to use technology to directly attack and disrupt even advanced beings.
