Description
Mino Nenki is a member of the Iga Tsubagakure clan and one of the ten ninja selected by the Iga leader Ogen to participate in the full-scale war against the Kouga Manjidani. His appearance is distinctly bestial: his entire body is covered in thick, shaggy black hair, and his long, tangled mane reaches past his waist and can be extended even further. This unusual coat gives him a repulsive, almost monstrous look, with only parts of his face, hands, and feet visible. He also possesses pointed ears and fangs.
In terms of personality, Nenki is aggressive, crude, and independent. He does not blindly follow orders and frequently questions the authority of Tenzen Yakushiji, the de facto field commander of the Iga forces. Despite his value as a fighter, his willful nature makes him somewhat unpredictable within the clan. He is driven by a straightforward desire to destroy his enemies and shows little interest in the larger political or emotional nuances of the conflict.
Nenki's primary role in the story is that of a brutal combatant who often engages the Kouga ninja in direct, physical confrontation. His most notable encounter is with Okoi Kisaragi of the Kouga, whose vampiric technique requires skin-to-skin contact to drain blood. Nenki’s full-body hair prevents this contact, and he turns the tables by sharpening his fur into thousands of needles and impaling her, killing her instantly. Later, he underestimates Muroga Hyouma and Gennosuke Kouga after they have been blinded, believing he can easily dispatch them. Hyouma, however, uses his Doujutsu technique to reverse Nenki’s killing intent, causing Nenki to die by his own attack.
His key relationships within the Iga are largely functional; he works alongside Tenzen and the others but maintains a degree of personal distance due to his rebellious streak. Among the Kouga, his most direct antagonism is with Okoi, whom he kills, and with Hyouma, who ultimately defeats him. Nenki does not undergo significant character development; he remains a ferocious and independent fighter from his introduction to his death, with his arc defined more by his actions in battle than by any internal change.
