Description
Gomechan is a small, winged creature with a body made of golden, metallic slime. Its name is a portmanteau that Dai created as a child, combining the words for golden metal slime with the affectionate Japanese honorific -chan, which is often used for close friends or cute animals. Compared to other slimes, Gomechan has notably large eyes and, unlike many gooey monsters, it possesses a set of visible teeth.

Gomechan’s background is deeply tied to its true nature, which is revealed to be that of a Tear of God. This mythical, living artifact has the power to grant any wish, but it can only be received by someone with a pure heart. For over a decade, it took the form most suited to fulfilling the earnest wish of the young Dai, who longed for a friend. In the process of becoming Dai’s companion, Gomechan developed its own unique personality.

In terms of personality, Gomechan is generally timid and could even be described as something of a coward. Despite its divine origins, it is a gentle and animated creature that is very close to Dai, as well as to his human friends Popp and Maam. While its speech is limited to soft sounds like slurps, slops, and pii, Dai and his companions are always shown to understand it without any difficulty. Although usually shy, Gomechan has shown moments of great determination, bravely attacking opponents far more powerful than itself to protect its friends, such as when it struck the Dragon Knight Baran to defend Popp.

Gomechan’s primary role in the story is as Dai’s best friend and constant companion. The two were raised together on Dermline Island by the monster Brass and have shared an unbreakable bond since early childhood. Its presence serves as a source of emotional support and comfort for Dai throughout his journey, acting as a beloved mascot for the group. Early in the adventure, Gomechan's rarity as a golden slime makes it a target for a party of impostors; Dai’s successful rescue leads to him being recognized as the Little Hero by the King of Romos, who gifts him the Crown of Champions, which Gomechan is often seen carrying. Later in the story, Gomechan forms a particular bond with the karate-wielding rat Chiu and eventually joins his party.

Despite its small size, Gomechan possesses several notable abilities. With its wings, it can fly with impressive speed and displays enough strength to carry the Crown of Champions. It has demonstrated remarkable resilience, surviving a powerful strike from Baran and later a blow from a member of the Demon Lord’s chess piece army. One of its most unique properties is a complete immunity to the influence of the Dark Lord, even outside of areas protected by magical purification spells. Its tears also have potent healing properties, capable of rejuvenating Dai and restoring his stamina after a severe defeat. Furthermore, Gomechan can harness a radiant yellow aura to perform a powerful charging attack, which it used to save Chiu by denting the super-hard orichalcum body of a formidable foe. This attack, however, leaves Gomechan unconscious.
